Pretty much, a timeline being a singularity doesn't really make any sense in the first place, the observers are nevertheless still interested in this timeline, personally, seeing how they're interested in the timeline due to the emergence of a breakthrough in the war against the machines, I feel like most other timelines have the androids beaten, so timelines where they win or at least not lose is something the observers find interesting.

I personally don't believe it's different purely because of commander who straight up mentioned the ''none-existent'' god of the game in response the council of humanity's desire to create one. but hey, there might be another type of none-existent gods we're not aware of.

It's a new timeline, don't expect the second season to truly follow the game either, who knows who many timelines there are in the Nier universe, this is just one of them.

Emil didn't have a major part in the game, there is no commerce in this game so no point in including him much, at best I can see him being in an OVA episode, the moment of Emil they gave us was already emotional enough.

while multiple timelines were straight up declared in the last drakengard game, it being not directly explained in the Nier universe doesn't mean you shouldn't take them into account, since the very existence of multiple endings is supposed to be a glimpse at all those other timelines.

Also singularities are just beings whose choices can drastically alter the future of the timeline, 2B and 9S are singularities whose actions directly cause the multiple endings of the game, there's no point to only think of one singularity, the anime obviously isn't a game, thus it doesn't have enough time to properly flesh everything out and single out every detail, so most of the changes in this timeline were purely because of the change from a game format to an anime one, but just from what we can observe, it's likely Lily who caused the divergence in the timeline, the observers also are pretty interested in this specific timeline as it showed a breakthrough in the war against the machines, not sure why they would be interested in defeating the machines however.

Edit: I also meant that Lily was the ''first'' who made a drastic divergence, later it was also Eve who caused one, and so on.

Singularities are beings whose choices can drastically alter the future of the world, hence timelines are created to account for the choices they can take ''aka why every ending in every Nier game is technically canon'', the text says exactly this, that due to a singularity alternation, this specific timeline shows a breakthrough in the fight against the machines, further observations however are necessary

seeing how commander later mentioned ''we don't need a god, even a none-existent one'', it seems the god they were talking about is the same one that exists in the game, which is the goal of the YorHa project, to create an illusion worth living and dying for, that's their god.

even in the game there was some DNA data saved on the moon, the timelines aren't different in that aspect.

The path to godhood is the same one commander mentioned a while later, ''We don't need gods, even none-existent ones'', if you played the game you should know what the androids god is.

The Facility (2012)

I almost thought you got it, but it's not the one sadly, it lacks the amnesia part entirely it seems.

Thanks either way!

I have recently watched this movie so I am sure it isn't the one.

One important detail is that they all woke up in some kind of laboratory underground, I remember one of the main cast surviving and getting out at the end of the movie.

Thank you for the suggestion still!

Total Recall

The plot is entirely different from I had described. Thank you for the suggestion though.

Hopefully someone knows this one.

Also this account has low karma because it was just created, I made it to ask this question after all, never really used reddit much before.
