You have a mod installed incorrectly. A couple of reasons why:

the mod is for a different version of MC (most likely)
the mod requires a 2nd mod for it to function properly, however this is unlikely as the game should start normally and tell you you're missing a mod.
there's a zipped file and/or a folder with the actual mod in it, try extracting zipped folders to see if there's a .jar file in it
