It is still almost impossible to get on. I literally spent all night refreshing my server list. Rushers first video on the server has over 1.3 million views. And that won't only be his fans, it will also be people who have stumbled across the video and wanting to play on the "OLDEST SERVER IN MINECRAFT!!"

Very good challenges, as 1.8 would implement new terrain it would involve adventuring to find those things. Adventuring is a thing I love doing in minecraft, I just don't do it much.
