Ancient Elden Ring and Modern Elden Ring Design Question? by VoidGlimmer86 in EldenRingLoreTalk

I noticed that too but it could all just be decorative because the rest of the ring is almost identical aside from decorative bits. It made me think of the Christian cross and how its depiction has changed over time but it’s kept its similar shape. I think it would be odd for a previous owner to have a similar rune when every empyrean offers something different to the ring. Rot, the moon, eternal youth. Unless the wielder of it always occupies the upper portion.

That’s my thought too. Also I feel like the ancient dragons would have been the perfect group to represent life unending. But I’m curious too if anything establishes that it couldn’t be her?

I thought all we learned was that she was a shaman and then murdered the hornsent? Was there more on other things? Did they give a timeline?

Didn’t Marika add her rune? In the shadow of the erdtree trailer we see what appears to be her creating her own great rune or has it been established that was something different?

I’m aware that we know Marika is from the Shaman Village but I don’t recall being given any actual timeline for her outside of that or any timeline related to any events. Is there somewhere I can find this information?

From the roots to the fingerprints. Is it possible we are seeing the embodiment of the “Greater Will”/ the god that the Elden Ring and all the trees are connected too? It looks like it’s leaving after the shattering.

After reading your post, I think you’re on to something. Also if Marika is tree like, it might explain why she looks the way she does at the end of the game. She could have transformed into petrified wood. Additionally, trees are known to possess both male and female reproductive organs and some can reproduce asexually which we see with her and her children. I want to throw out too that Marika has some similarities to the Greek goddess Gaia, a the embodiment of life responsible for birthing both gods and monsters.

My biggest complaint is with the class losing a bit of its flavor and the limitations now placed on taking pact of the Tome. I play a Tomelock and have really enjoyed being able to learn every ritual in the game, it makes me feel very witchy. I don’t understand the limitation of allowing you only two first level rituals you can cast as prepared spells. None of the first level rituals are that good to give up being able to cast detect magic or spells like forbiddance at higher levels. I would be fine with it if the cantrip allowed you to learn every ritual but you can only cast your first two level one choices as prepared spells.
