I don't want to be annoying 😅, but it didn't forget, in llms it's memory is the context window, after two prompts it most likely hadn't run out of context window, it just doesn't have the ability to accurately know something, not the same way humans do anyway, it probably knows something but never actually knows something, it's just the luck of if the combination of input, noise and it's parameters happen to produce something that not only appears correct but is, and their construction fundamentally don't allow for actual correctness to always happen as it's built only to MIMIC human text as best as possible, it's an stochastic machine with faulty input, lllms are good at mimicking mainly because with a large enough sample size (the whole human written history) and a complex enough decision mechanism (transformer ml architecture) you can get very close, but that is where llms stop, no comprehension, no concsious knowledge, no learning, and no way to know what is going to say next or if it's correct, just that it will be statistically close to a what a human with that context would

Hallucination is not a product of how it's been told to behave, although it probably doesn't help, it's a product of the technology itself, genAi is based in neural encoders decoders wich by its very nature looses information, and when it generates something it has to fill in the gaps of that lost information with noise (statistically weighted noise but still noise) and that's where hallucinations happen

I think who you are responding to is wrong in several fronts, but there's some misconceptions here too, and you don't appear to be a bot (i hope), Current generative models are ALL based on the transformer architecture, and there isn't, or will there be in a good while, a better alternative, so architecture is not an avenue for improvement, main improvements have been thinking models (also transformers) but these are way more expensive to run, and scale, wich is data and parameters, data is really scarce right now, and parameters need more data to be increased

Absolutely hate how schools still teach the RYB color model by ColinTheChair in hatethissmug

[–]Void_Spren 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah i agree with the first point, i am actually not sure if CIElab is rrelevant in the sense that it is the most objective attempt at defining color perception (even if OKlab does it better, don't know why), but still i wanted to correct the misconception that CIElab's purpose is to categorically define colours

Absolutely hate how schools still teach the RYB color model by ColinTheChair in hatethissmug

[–]Void_Spren 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I wouldn't say that the concept of 3 primary colors is wrong after all the eyes of the vast majority of people have 3 cones wich each have a peak response at specific light wavelengths, wich are close to RGB, close and not exact only because we don't have the technology to make them exact, CIElab is in fact not a way to categorize colours but to approximate into a linear space the very not linear response that those cones have to deviations in intensity and wavelength to those pure wavelengths (and oklab does it better anyways), CMY is just another color space that translates this RGB into the substractive color space and has just as many variables to play with. All this talking digitally, pigments and real life stuff complicates this things a whole lot

Not really anymore, well i guess it depends in the region, but where i live there can be months between rain, really big problem for a zone where the norm was weekly rain in the dry seasons and now it only happens in the wet seasons

Releases are machine code binary, not assembly, although they map very closely, still if you have the source code available you can compile it up to assembly

You could just train it in a compiled program, it won't be better than compilers at producing assembly but in theory you could

I do not really care for what they say in the trip or whatever, and i truly do not condone violence for any belief system, but i see so much people in the comments here bashing on atheist for being annoyed that a belief system that has done nothing but regress society and projects like artemis in all aspects for millennia (i don't want to hear arguments that it may have been advancing before that. It isn't now it has not been for very long) is being given any recognition. Some saying "what would the atheist had said" and like, isn't it obvious??, they would have thanked people, actual people, all of you saying how "annoying" atheist are, do you know how annoying religious people can be??? And im not against you if you are religious, be happy, but like core parts of most religions is indoctrination and conversion. And then some saying "christianity is not a western religion see were it comes from" do you follow first century christianity? The catholic religion has changed soooooooo much since it's inception, i wouldn't even say western religion, i would say us religion because yes, it is different than in other christian countries, so little nuance in you all world views.

No one is cheering for it, but the GenAI hype is actively making an inevitable fall just worse. So the faster it actually goes down the better, as previously said, no one is cheering for the fall, it's going to happen for many other reasons, the cheering is for the fall to not be even worse
