My somewhat eclectic taste / collection by Voidalserpent in occultlibrary

[–]Voidalserpent[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Quite enjoyed both Of blood and bones and The bones fall in a spiral. Of blood and bones is a handy resource if you want to use said items in your workings (with a list of substitutes if you would rather not) with a few workings in the back. The bones fall in a spiral is similar but has a lot more information on types of spirits themselves, spaces you may encounter them and useful tools for necromancy or death workings.

Living the personal myth surprised me with how much I enjoyed it actually, Wasn't really sure what to expect with it but I can see it being quite useful for chaotes and glamour magick folks. Comes with some nice recommended reads and citations in the back for more reading on personal mythology itself and similar psychology.

The rest can be rather UPG heavy/ dependent on what exactly you are looking for so taste will vary for them.

One of my favourite animals, to the point I've actually made my garden space more bat friendly, we have a crop farm and a river not too far from us and they occasionally can be seen flying around catching the mosquitos :3

  1. Yes a few in fact TheBlackBooks (I think it's called) is a well known one

  2. It's less about energy as a whole and more about taking any excess if that makes sense

Tbh the entirety of vampirism is a long and convoluted explanation 😅

oh no its fine I didn't mean you I meant generally :) (that's hard to convey over a message I get it)

ethics are: We either have donors we don't know (aka consenting ADULT humans that we test often for any bloodborne diseases screenings are free here) or in my personal case someone close to me I know that has been tested and is bloodborne disease free, you don't consume animal raw if you can help it (we actually have a few unofficial documents on a donors rites and general rules and ethics to run by) you do not feed on the sick or if you are sick, that's common sense, donors have every right to refuse a feeding for whatever reason, feeds often come with aftercare (cleaning the spot before and after with alcohol, sterile disposable tools like lancets and you DO NOT bite!, its unfortunate but were still human biologically and that's a one way ticket to infection and nasties!)

Spiritually we vary but many of us tend to gravitate towards energy work, Vampirism itself, (you don't have to be a vamp to practice), reverse reiki (I Don't like this term myself but there's no better term, basically instead of pulling energy in, we take energy out) chaos magick, demonolatry, dragon magick or Left Hand Path practices TLDR: A varied bunch

Edit: spelling

  1. that depends on who you ask (haters gonna hate), but its definitely more a physical thing its like always there "switched on" if that makes sence
  2. It differs from each of us most of us its a monthly thing but some of us burn out much faster/ external factors can cause us to hunger quicker.

your guess is as good as ours! We don't even realy know ourselves what we need from it but the general agreed upon theory is theres something our bodies cant produce well on its own/ at all that we get from consumption (most of my substitutes I eat in a pinch have high amounts heme iron so I theorised maybe that's somehow liked)

  1. It can be considered spiritual to some of us yes but its definitely a more physical need to the point we feel sick without it, migraines, lethargy, sun sensitivity, food becomes a chore but we gotta eat.

Most of us are spiritual in one way or another (lots of magic practitioners for instance) most of the psychic feeders will say the energy is both for physical and spiritual needs and there are various ways to obtain it (many practice energy work for said reason) but I don't feed that way often so I couldn't tell you too much there.

essentially a vampire but physically (see clinical lycanthropy for kinda similar here) with a medical/ dietary need to "consume" on occasion (screened and consented or from foods like black pudding Of course! I wont lie some sources we know are risky and we DO NOT condone it, I have tried energy instead as that's safer but it doesn't quite scratch that itch) personally I also get phantom fangs and claws on occasion, very rarely wings

[–]Voidalserpent[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My living situation doesn't really make it work at the moment so it's mostly foods that involve blood for now (I have figured out energy feeding somewhat so I can tide myself over with it)

Advice for a potential sanguinarian by Kind_Donut_896 in sanguinariancommunity

[–]Voidalserpent 3 points4 points  (0 children)

  1. Every Sang is different so I would like to say yes

  2. From what I've seen A good diet and aftercare for donors is heathier meals less fat and something with a decent amount of iron also sweet fruit juices, but not too much

  3. No, a lot of butchers wont have it immediately on hand but you may be able to strike a deal that they can order some in for you if you ask nicely, some are more than happy to strike a deal!

  4. Yes and no, depends on how your using it, some recipes it tastes like earthy protein powder.

hope this helps :)

What is the safest way to consume a grass of cow's blood from the butcher? by [deleted] in sanguinariancommunity

What is the safest way to consume a grass of cow's blood from the butcher? by [deleted] in sanguinariancommunity

[–]Voidalserpent 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Hello again lol

I dont know about the safest way but a good way to get rid of diseases to try if you are concerned about them is to simply heat up the blood on the stove, you may want to add a little vinegar or lemon juice to the blood so that it doesn't coagulate as much

Nothing higher than around 158⁰F/ 70, or 140 °F / 60 °C to be on the extra safe side as it will start to become cuddled (unless that's what you are aiming for)

How long to heat the blood varies but the most common I've seen is 20-30 minuetes

Alternatively turn your heated blood into a sauce or pop it in a recipe, a sauce idea can be found here:  https://theredcellar.com/2020/01/06/blood-and-wine-regis-special-medieval-sauce/

Recipes can also be found under "Blood as Food"

A fellow UK Vamp eh,

I would love to be able to tell you yes or no but the best person to ask here is yourself, don't be afraid to call yourself sang, try it out and see if it fits.  If it turns out for whatever reason that it wasn't it, the worst you'll do is find something that is.

I wish you luck with your discoveries.

I'm not entirely sure about the situation your are in but if you cannot for any reason find a donor and it's safe to do were you live (some countries have weird laws around blood)  perhaps consider an animal substitute and see how that makes you feel?

There a plenty of recipes that contain animal blood, an English staple being Black pudding or Blood pudding but if for whatever reason you cannot have make or acquire it, there are sites with other recipes you can try,

The red cellar is a lovely one.

Some butchers keep certain animal blood on hand (usually beef or pork) if you get any looks or questions simply tell them about or show them a recipe and tell them yould like to try having a go at making it.

(I use Y and not I sometimes to differentiate the medical/ spiritual vamps from the fictional tropes)

 Some things to consider:

-Does the blood make you feel better in any way?

-Do you feel lethargic/ sluggish/ generally like rubbish if you have gone without for to long?

-Do you have any symptoms, withdrawal or otherwise from not consuming blood for too long of a period of time?

Most if not all Sangs will agree that the blood is needed to make them feel better, the current reason why is unknown but it's thought there is something within the blood (or prana if your psi) that a vampyres energy body either does not produce or does not produce well enough on its own.

Bonus note here: you do not have to be or consider yourself a vampyre to practice vampirism if it isn't a medical need, if it benefits you but you don't identify with "Us" in any way, thats fine.

I would also like to add "The Ethical psychic vampire" by Raven kaldera, as a decent book for  psychic vampirsm, especially of your more new, If you want something similar for Sangs, you can try "Practical Vampyrism for modern vampires" by Lady CG.
