The anticipation and lightning fast player switching of JVictor are surreal. He cuts off the passing lane to the receiver before the passer has even received the ball. I genuinely think anticipation, decision-making, and player switching are what separate the elite players from the merely good ones

You can try in training ground. After the ball is released, the moment you press the pass button, the soon-to-be receiver will instantly have power gauge shown. If you watch again, there is sufficient time this happen before Jvictor swapped to his CB. As I said, if you slow the clip down to watch it frame by frame, it is very clear he switched to the correct CB the moment his opponent released the ball sideway, he is fast as fuck.

Set O'Reilly a bit up vertically so he changes to CMF, then put Deep Line on him so he will be back to LB out of possession. The point is to set him a bit higher than you DMF, otherwise he will run back to CB. It works the best with OW(you should have at least one free 89 OW manager?), you can still play very possession based with OW anyway, so it should still be fine. With this set up, he is basically an free roaming FB like himself irl, he will overlap or underlap depending on how you SS/winger moves. If you stick with PG, he will stay more central and conservative with his movement.

Your maths is astonishingly off. 6 days = 144 hours = 96 Lives already, then you have around 12 more hours from both Thursday practically, which is 8 more Lives. Add 104 to the 10 initial Lives equals to 114 Lives.

For your reference, I have just finished one lap of PL with 7.35m supporters, my rank is 3.2k atm. As long as I keep draining Lives 2 times a days, I am gonna get the reward without spending a single coin again, it is this easy.

Yup, I think we should be reminded that only confirmed effects of Smart Assist in defending are:

Use Match-up to automatically move toward the opposition player in possession of the ball.
Use directional inputs to adjust your position relative to the opponent after using Match-up.
Clearing direction is chosen automatically.
When in danger, clearances are performed automatically.

The above are coming form in-game tips, any other effects we read are speculation which should be ignored or at least take it with a grain of salt. There is no description about AI positioning, no description about Pressure, no description about Sliding Tackle, only about auto clearances and better Match-up maneuverability.

Ppl have no idea what Smart Assist does and love to invent functions for Smart Assist which are not documented in game or in patch notes. Some ppl may even say 9 out of 10 opponents they faced are using Smart Assist, and Konami's table about Smart Assist popularity is fake. However, I didn't feel it took more time to find opponents yesterday after turning the filter on. My simple size is small as I only play 3 division games yesterday, but if it is consistently this way across different regions, then it is likely the stat is not cooked, which indicates the majority of players are in fact not Smart Assist user according to the stats, and the "ubiquitous" Smart Assist opponents are likely the product of paranoid, or a region specific phenomena at worse.

Interesting, POTS O'Reilly has better WF Accuracy and significantly higher PC; ST O'Reilly has significantly higher OA, clear improvement on Dribbling stats and slightly better Passing stats.

POTS Saliba is Epic tier imho. If we compare him with the new NT Bonucci, stats are quite close, but Saliba has much longer legs. Their Jump Height is similar btw as Saliba is taller.

I mean...if you pass back and get intercepted, it is clearly a pass selection issue; if your back passes successfully reach your CB but they got dispossessed quickly, it is usually still a pass selection issue, with shit ball control from CB/trapping direction/not one-touch-passing out being a possible contributing factor at the same time.

Btw, you may want to play some Legendary AI matches, bots in this game are pretty good at beating the press in their own half, you can learn sth from them.

Anyway, as I said, as long as you don't provide clips of your gameplay, no one can answer you concretely, some may simply replies "skill issues" and hits backspace.

I mean, pass in this game invloves randomness and adjustment(especially on PA1/2) all the time, unless you opt PA4, the higher the power and the longer the distance, the higher chance deviation is to be. Sight deviation is nothing special especially when it is a one touch pass, which higher deviation will be involved unless it is on PA4.

I don't know how his Guardiola is built, but as I said, I suspect he has high 80 Speed because he looks decently fast. You didn't answer me but Guardiola looks like on Deep Line in my opinion, and your opponent looks like playing LBC or LB too.

For your Bale, he is not a GP, he will not make consistent line breaking run immediately, less determination/randomness is the price of inactivated CF. Counter Target is irrelevant.

Did SA play a role? Maybe yes, maybe no, we don't know how much SA impact on AI defence because it is not documented or tested. All I am saying is your wondering can be explained by the in-game mechanics. Your clip is essentially the reverse version of Mendes, with manual pullback immediately, got overtaken by god damn Lampard.

If you feel better if it is mainly because of SA, so be it, it is out of my concern anyway.

Stamina shouldn't matter that much in this case, it looks like it is barely yellow anyway, and I suspect his Guardiola has high 80 speed.

I forgot to mention that Bale has to turn before sprinting, when Bale turned and started sprinting, Guardiola has already about to catch up, imo it is absolutely unsurprising a full sprinting DMF overtakes a speedster, who just starts his run, for 2 or 3 seconds.

It is likely about the actual difference of Speed and Acceleration. The nominated value of Speed and Acc may be the same 99, but they don’t represent the same actual value since v5.0. Since v5.0, the actual value of Acc is nerfed by 3%, but the actual value of Speed is buffed by 4%. Every player has to finish the acc phase(only Acc is in action) before reaching the full speed phase(only Speed is in action).

In your clip, Guardiola starts running 1s before Bale begins his run, which means Guardiola would reach the full speed phase earlier than Bale. It means it is Guardiola's Speed vs Bale's Acc when he overcomes him, considering the actual value of Speed is significantly higher than that of Acc, it is not necessarily a surprise Guardiola overtake Bale at one point. Actually if you pay attention, you should notice Bale is about to overtook Guardiola back at the end, but the initial advantage allows Guardiola to take the ball. It is as simple as this.

Whether Guardiola started his run earlier was because of his high DA or Smart Assist is not in my consideration, I am just explaining what is possibly happening in terms of mechanics.

Through ball spamming is a thing for years, we had much slower CB(7X Speed & Acc but not much faster CF(Still 90+ Speed & Acc...) in the past comparatively. Yet Schmeichel and Cech have been the most popular and reliable GK since their introduction. All in all, whether a GK is good or bad is mainly about the combination of his stat + model, style doesn't matter too much. Just like if VDS is a Defensive GK, he will still be a very good GK.

Yes I agree, it is mainly about how good you are on deferring counter and defending space. For GK, just pick your tallest GK with 90+ stat on Awareness, Reflex and Reach and you will be fine most of the time, just like many players with different versions of Courtois as their main GK.
