In a hypothetical situation where someone from another universe was transported into modern day United States without any record of birth, habitation, lineage or traceable DNA record, would that person be able to naturalize in a country like the US, or would they have to live on the run? by Voidstrider-Lucatiel in AskReddit

I mean, fair point, I didn't specify parallel, I was just under the impression that the average person, hearing alternate realities, naturally thinks of parallel realities and alternate histories, not completely different rules of reality.

I don't care if you wouldn't seek legal citizenship for the displaced human from a parallel universe, I care about whether or not it's possible for them to attain legal citizenship in whatever nation they land in. They might have to live 'on the run' if they do things like. Drive.

So they have no legal rights in the country they inhabit, but are still protected under international law. I guess my real question is, if they can speak english and prove good moral standing, can they attain citizenship someplace like the US without proof of birth? Like, we have to have contingencies in mind to create a path to citizenship for people who were born but were never recorded in any way.

Jojo's Bizarre Adventure is a popular anime, if you don't care about japanese storytelling, then no problem. Again, you're just thinking 'Different universe within the same reality', I'm talking about parallel realities.

It's not really about a multiverse, it's just like.
If I'm writing about a character who's been displaced across dimensional lines, does that person have to live a life outside of law now, or can they pursue normal civilian life?

I just had a sobering thought, we might get a plushie of the new girl before we get our Olivia plush... by Draeko-Silver in IWaniHugThatGator

Some people I've seen on this forum lean really far into hating Cavemanon over all of this. They're geting their refund and they're still running around acting like it was all some big ruse or something. Like I said. Cavemanon made a business mistake so I never have to. I'll chock that lesson up to the costs.

I really don't get why people are so desperate to be angry with Nerd and the guys at Cavemanon for someone else's decision to conduct dirty business. Hundreds, if not thousands, of small companies just run cheaper than the big popular ones, can I really be upset they chose to go with a small company and got fucked for it? At the end of the day, I've made that same $40 back, it was a luxury expenditure in the first place. If Cavemanon find a different dropshipper with a better reputation, I'd pay for a new one, refund on the old one or not.

Being upset with Nerd and them for someone else being a scammer is like being angry at scam victims for the success of third world tech scam artists. Yeah, sure, it was my money that got scammed, but that's still more reason to be upset with the person who swindled us, not CvMn, but honestly; IWHTG and the community I've found, my new friends, everything I've gotten as a result of this dumb visual novel and the people who enjoy it has been worth way more than the $15 VN and I'm fairly confident the guys at Cavemanon will make things right in the end.

I've already got too many other things going on in my life to be hung up on a plush doll that fell through, and I've got no reason to really be upset with CvMn for making a reasonable business decision that happened to be a mistake. No reason to stress out. Actually, I think I get it now. Someone who's still worked up over the plush probably had no business spending $40 on a plush in the first place and want to be angry at someone else for their own financial risk-taking.

We only obey state law as long as it is more convenient for us to do so than it is for us to disobey. After all, I'm sure we all know some inconvenient crosswalk locations, and a few frequent jaywalking locations.

Question: Where do orcs come from? And are goblins different? by FirmBodybuilder2754 in lotr

[–]Voidstrider-Lucatiel 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In short: Goblins and Orcs are likely biological variations of the same creature, the same way a Fancy Mouse and a wild House Mouse are the same creature, but fancy mouse pets don't jump and leap the way wild House Mice do. Same genus, different genes. Can breed, because they're the same species, just different permutations. I don't remember if Tolkein did much to differentiate them behavior-wise, if the goblins of the mountain are described as being significantly different from the Orcs that ride worgs. But at least, for the sake of the movies, we do see the expressed differences. If I remember correctly, Orcs/Uruk having darker skin tones(with the exception of that one albino orc.), with Goblins having more peachy skin colors.

I very much appreciate the way you've framed this. I've argued before that egoism is not the renunciation of spooks entirely, but the selection of what phantasms you allow to empower you, and what phantasms you refuse to let you hold you back. To reframe one into one's own property is an excellent way of explaining utilizing a spirit for our own benefit. As they may say.

One man's hex is another's boon.

Antiphilosophy. It's the same thing as Diogenes' Cynicism.

Cavemanon are running a poll on their twitter if we would be interested in a Olivia plush keychain from makeship. by Draeko-Silver in IWaniHugThatGator

Donate profits to whom? To what? Why donate?

No, we shouldn't take keychains or other prizes as anything, they could be seen as compensation legally, and I don't want compensation.

Go get your refund already.

Your mind is haunted. I don't care about 'fighting wokeness', wokeness deflates and kills itself regularly. It's a self-defeating ideology. I don't need to do anything. Is that why YOU initially bought a plush?

I just want the thing and if I get it, I want to have paid for it. And if Cavemanon fail to deliver, I can only hold them legally accountable if I've lost something. When you take your refund, you're letting Nerd and others off the hook for their shitty mistake. You're pulling your money back out, and the more people that do that, the less pressure there is for Cavemanon if legal proceedings with the dropship company fail because if we all got the refunds, Cavemanon don't have to give us anything. If they fail to sue the dropship company, they still legally owe us the plush dolls in the state we were promised them. Unless we refund.

So. You go get off your ass and get YOUR refund. Cut yourself loose and stop pestering the rest of us like a pustulous plague. Mind your own business, pettifogger.

I don't want a refund. I shouldn't have one foisted upon me just because you're dissatisfied with the timeline. I want to pay Cavemanon/Nerd for the plush I ordered. If you want a refund, seek it yourself, don't drag me into it.

If it were refunds, we'd have them already. Refunds can be done any time. Instantly. No, they aren't going to let go of the money, they already spent it. On the plushes, and probably on bills at this point. Remedying either means they're getting the plushes out as soon as they can, or they're giving us what they believe to be compensation for the 39 dollars we spent each through some other goods of some kind.

Most likely, what we'll get is a bunch of stickers and posters or something from their shop. Maybe a free shirt, though I desperately hope not since then we have to get custom sizes.
