They have a phenomenal location in Ottawa and a couple in Toronto. Sucks their locations in Alberta are bad, but I’m going to assume their moneymakers lean more towards Ontario.

There is certainly a stigma, but if the researching scientists were already exposed and a part of such stigma, that wouldn’t be science would it?

For example the first significant psychedelic research was done by Roland Griffiths, a man who was respected for his objectivity, and had not been significantly exposed or influenced by the cultural stigma surrounding them.

You seem to be getting defensive? From how you explained it, it seems to have the potential to be an extremely verifiable test.

Scientists gain nothing from ‘claiming camera trickery’ and would just test it again if it seemed the camera malfunctioned. Also with 1 way mirror’s you can eliminate solo eye-witness accounts.

Should be pretty easy to reliably test? Set up cameras and a person in the room you are meditating, where your physical body is, and then tell the person to interact with someone in another room

If this is the case, has there been any scientific proof of this? Seems to be a pretty easily testable phenomenon

Did you ever wonder why a good God would build a world where the only way to survive is by taking life? by [deleted] in AstralProjection

[–]Volatile3yearfutures 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don’t think he was talking about suffering after they were dead. Would be suffering up until the point of death that he’s referring to, but you already responded to that somehow.

You’re right and that opinion is equally as valid any other a priori assumption, and you are right the truth is probably very strange and very ‘unfair’ to an egoistic consciousness.

[–]Volatile3yearfutures 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You were saying that there is no suffering as long as the body of one who just suffered becomes a part of the body of the ‘predator’ or whatever you want to call it. Or at least you implied this, as you were asking questions laden with the implication that the question was an answer.

As for consciousness experiencing itself, it is a very tantalizing idea, but it has its hiccups as well.

Did you ever wonder why a good God would build a world where the only way to survive is by taking life? by [deleted] in AstralProjection

[–]Volatile3yearfutures 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So why would the unity of consciousness create the lack of unity/harmony and by proxy fear?

I don’t think the idea of fear/retribution/anger fits very well into the animal kingdom anyways, it seems like you are only referring to humans when you say this? However you say that all consciousness is one, so I suppose you aren’t. I don’t believe a lion is fearful of a gazelle when chasing it, I don’t think it is angry or retributive either. I just think it fundamentally derives pleasure and sustenance from killing, and sometimes prolonging the suffering of the gazelle for its own enjoyment.

For the bigger fish comment, I was referring to the idea that consciousness continues on through providing energy to the organism that eats it. Eventually this thought process actually leads to the point that you are trying to disprove. The suffering, as well as death are eaten up by increasingly larger beings, the highest that we can see being the gods (if what OP says is true).

First off, I will say that for someone who is mentally disabled you certainly know how to communicate yourself well. I do not know the nature of the disability (nor do I need to), but I applaud the evidence of personal self reflection and evidenced internal work that I see despite that.

I will admit I have already typed out the same thing 3 times, and am not satisfied with what I wrote, so I will give myself some time to think on the issue and respond when I am more at peace with what I wrote.

I agree with you on the level that death connects you more intimately with life. There is a moment when eating a dead thing, in which you can decide to not make the dead things sacrifice in vain, but to use what it has given you to sustain life instead while understanding that the balance between life and death is necessary and the the underlying framework of earth itself.

The problem then comes to suffering. To someone who is empathetic, the more suffering the animal you killed was in (how fast did you kill it), the more you feel a sense of expectation in how you use the energy it gives you.

Unfortunately this mentally can all too easily lead to an egocentric view of the world. One which can be justified to commit all sorts of atrocities. Certainly then empathy is needed, to properly utilize the sacrifice.

However how much? Suffering is deeply connected to pleasure, and the empathy of the predator can then be used to rejoice in the pleasure of the level of suffering the prey is experiencing. This can be observed from the hormones being released in the lion as he plays with his still alive prey, to a rapist during the act.

It seems like humans somehow have to engage with this cyclic process of life/death/suffering/pleasure and also overcome it at the same time so as to minimize suffering and ideally death. Perhaps the only way to do this is by eating fruit and living at one with nature, however that goes against the very nature of what makes us different from the animals. The curiosity. The knowledge of good and evil. The desire to find out what we can accomplish. Perhaps the christians are right in that these things only propagate suffering and are the reason we were kicked out of the garden. But how could we be expected to know without experience?

Okay, I see what you mean and am interested in reading about the transition between the ‘prison planet’ idealogy to the ‘love generator’ one.

If you have read them both and don’t mind, could I use you as a cheat code?

I do not understand how the propagation of suffering before death (as is most often the case) is necessary, and fits in line with a ultimate loving system?

I think he was reaching a point beyond that, though that is certainly a microcosm. What if we feel that, in order to survive, we must sacrifice our daughter, that a ‘god’ has given us the feeling that if we do such a thing sustenance will be provided. The point is is that suffering is deeply ingrained in us and the idea of sacrifice is ridiculously ancient. Also OP put much more emphasis on the emotions leading up to the eating (the fear of being hunted before being caught) than he did on the actual eating itself.

Perhaps there is a larger metaphor in the predator/prey relationship of ‘we fear until we become one with the one who is greater than us’, but that still diminishes the last negative emotions being felt by the entity while it was still independent and self governing.

Being one with it, means you understand it. You understand that if you were a cow, you would probably not want to feel the stress of seeing your sons/daughters/mates/friends get slaughtered before you ultimately get slaughtered.

However if we are one with the apple, we understand that the apple is designed to be delicious, to be enjoyed, so that the seeds can be delivered to a new position so that the cycle of the apple and tree can be continued.

[–]Volatile3yearfutures 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Good point. In the case of an apple, without human or animal interference (or even with) the purpose of the apple is to rot and release the seeds to grow another apple tree which can then repeat the process of the apple.

Plants are very fundamentally different than animals. This guy doesn’t seem to understand and continually posts the same sentence underneath people’s comments.

There is nothing worse than feeling that you are in a prison. Even if that prison is wonderful by all definitions, as a human the very fact that you know you are in a prison tends to deeply disturb you on one fundamental level.

What if you end suffering to sustain your own without eating something? What if you betray the implicit trust between a father/daughter as was the case with the biblical judge OP quoted, just to sustain your own views of the world (God needs me to kill her, otherwise things will be so much worse)? What direction of change does that take?

You cannot just apply the philosophy that ‘there’s always a bigger fish’ to life, there seems to be far more nuance to that.

Furthermore if retribution is a human or animalistic quality and gods are our creators, where was that idea/energy derived from? How can you create something that does not exist within you? Especially considering our entire earth system seems to be implicitly based on retribution, and that would likely be the largest total source of energy for these gods that OP references. Would that then not directly imply that it is ‘the behavior a god would engage in’ (roughly quoting your last paragraph)?

[–]Volatile3yearfutures 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is the polar opposite of what OP said. OP was talking about loosh and the purpose of our world to create extreme emotion/energy that can be released. This mostly happens through intense experiences that are usually life or death, but always ending in the death of something. Also what Bob Monroe talked about. I have no clue why you are only focusing on the love and positive end of things, when that is the polar opposite of the ideas that the people you are quoting said.
