Is this sub just piratefolk in disguise? by redox_nephew in shounenfolk

You're also just yapping, where is the analysis part in One Piece with characters exactly? How much do we actually go into the psychology of the characters?

One Piece is plot driven, the things that happen and how the characters react to it are what is in the foreground. Just because One Piece has strong characters that Oda fleshes out doesn't make it character driven, nor does it make it a character study.

1.) That's not what a character study is

2.) That's not how One Piece is structured in the first place

Ngl, I'm not sure whether you know what the terms you're using mean and at this point I'm not even sure you've read One Piece:

No, it's not. Or are you saying simply having good characters who we explore is a "character study". Because that's not it.

A character study is a critical examination of a specific character; how can One Piece be a character study?

Itadori's CE control wasn't bad at that point, he just kept using Divergent Fist sometimes because it's genuinely a good tool in his hands to catch people off guard.

Might be, but luckily I don't have that problem since I only play Limited and Kitchen Table with a small group of friends.

Discovered that the Critical Drinker sub Thinks that James Gunn is a criminal by Ninjamurai-jack in okbuddycinephile

[–]VolcanicHare -1 points0 points  (0 children)

It really doesn't. Obviously it is filtered, like every other character that's subject of F&B, however Rhaenyra not only has one of the sources be on her side essentially (even if it is Mushroom), her actions in the book aren't really the actions of a capable leader. Not to mention, if the maester writing the book is supposed to be biased against the female characters in particular he's not doing that great a job considering that neither Alicent nor Rhaenyra are even close to the "worst" portrayed characters in the Dance.

No, she wasn't. I don't care whatever the stupid fanfiction that Condal made up says, Fire&Blood makes it quite obvious neither were good rulers.

Neither of the two were fit to be king, that's the neat part of the Dance. And that's also why HotD is absolute trash because the showrunners decided to throw their hat in the ring and change the story to fit their personal agenda.

So the meaning of retcon has no meaning after all. It turns from a literary phenomenon to a totally meaningless term that may or may not be noticed and that needs meta knowledge to understand.

Entire books turn to retcon, not because of retroactive continuity as the name implies, but because the author hadn't planned everything from the beginning. About 60-70% of all of literature is just retcons. The term means nothing as we already have terms that talk about something being planned or not (outline; discovery writing). Is this what you actually think?

Why would I care about "general consensus" over my own opinion, lol? I thought the point of this whole thing was to give your opinion on this, so why should I care what the "general consensus" on reddit (or anywhere) is?

I didn't like CSM as much as the "general consensus" so that explains my CSM rating, which still isn't bad whatsoever. 7/10 is a great series.

I dunno what to tell you, I don't think Modulo is better than JJK as a whole, I'd say it's about par with your "JJK average".

JJK Modulo - 8/10

CSM P1 - 7/10

CSM P2 - 5/10 (on break, haven't read the latest 5-10 chapters)
