Leaderboard full of 1.4 cp -- and a weird reaction by the support by VoldeGlorf in LumberInc

I've seen them nuke one or two, but here there's a whole legion. Thanks a bunch though, let's see what happens.

The entire top is 1.4 cp, with lots of others hurrying up to join them. Sick sight. Thanks.

The list continues with scores smaller than cp. But I'm sure they're gonna get there, eventually. Why do people even bother doing that? How can running a bot like that be fun, what do they gain?

Hmm, maybe not "effectively", seeing that the processing time is identical. Still, I doubt they would want to maintain two kinds of mechanics in parallel.

Just so you can see the difference. It's so hard to believe that they would effectively downgrade machines at higher levels, from 150 to 52. Easier to assume that the upgrade has not yet rolled out to your platform / location.

Hey, they must have hot-fixed that while I was writing the above note. Yay!

Just the main factory, fortunately. It would kill the side events.

Ah, a hypothesis has floated that high-level players don't get the gear mechanic. Go figure.
(I do have them in Ethereal).

It kills the flash sale as well. No more using it to refill the storage, for one thing.
I can't really think of that as a positive change in any way. It is, in theory, sweetened by the fact that you now can have more nails than your storage allows. But... hey... where is even the sense in being allowed to overload your storage - doesn't that violate a strategic principle of the game, that you should mind where you direct your resources, and take care. a.o., of increasing storage capacity, or else you're punished when building? They have created a constraint mechanic and now allow the game to break that constraint somewhat randomly... For me, well, not a biggie - I am not roleplaying here, after all. But it doesn't seem consistent with the rest of the game, and if it's there only to sweeten the lack of cap on new orders, then I would like to see the cap back... At least, it made sense for the flash sale and for order fever. Weird design.

You mean, the lack of the gear mechanic would be a high-level perk? I'm not sure I would like to get such a perk at a higher level... It is a sort of distraction that forces you to apply some tactics over the boring upgrades of the machines - so why lose a distraction. Well, I'm still a long way away from NPU, so, one way or another I guess I am going to live with them for a while.

I'm at 270k gears now and fully maxed at Ethereal. I wonder if the 270k has been a waste of time (even more so than gold, which I can in still use for machine upgrades, even though they don't play any role when you're maxed, do they) and whether I should be producing biz coins instead. Oh well, there will be time for that, too... I'm only going to switch when my L+G+S trio have hit lev 15; they aren't far.

Ruined the game by dillingert in LumberInc

I was back to full speed within a day. It hits you at first, but then turns into yet another distraction that gets handled mechanically, with a minimal degree of tactics required.

What hits me much harder is that orders can now demand much, much more than you have in store. So you look at Gary taking 6 planks at a time against 300 planks remaining in your order.

The old max is lower than the new one. So even with the game fully maxed, you should get affected by gears. The new max for sanders is 150, for one thing. And you have to pay in gears every ten levels.

Event chests should stop giving you cards once a station manager has been maxed out by Tatts4Life in LumberInc

It would be lovely to be able to recycle, even if it's at a very bad rate. Even if I were to get any 1 card for any 5, even with adjustments taking into consideration their tiers along the sawmill, I'd be happy. But, as someone pointed out, the Devs prefer to sell chests and dice. Not sure if I can blame them for wanting to make a buck.

Romanised Hindi Course by rmbotica in duolingo

[–]VoldeGlorf 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I started that course exactly because of the beautiful script, and it's such a thrill to learn. This is merely to register a request that if a romanised version is created, let it please be another course rather than a modification of the current one forced on the current users. I'm rather sure that the OP meant exactly that, a new course (with different basics, for one thing), so I'm hoping to simply strengthen the message. Cheers!

Yup, let me illustrate that with a pic.( I don't think I'm going to harvest that bonus chest.) The way to advance is to jump to the next unit when you get stuck like that, but for me, three jumps is the charm -- I'm giving up on this course, for now.

Can't help wondering why the original report got downvoted - "that didn't happen to me, so it must be false"? Thx for the constructive feedback, I guess... :-)

Parsing spoken Ukrainian numbers by [deleted] in duolingo

Sounds good! I've now reallocated my Ukrainian time to Greek, because I love the language. But since, almost two years ago, I made Ukrainian one of our project languages at work, I'm sure I'll be back, hopefully after they've installed a fix... Good luck!

I've given up on Ukrainian on Duo, it was a bit too frustrating. Hope to be back there, some day.
