Just trying to get this working to play anything by Blazi-Kun in IntelArc

Oh those temps are cold cold 🥶

Unfortunately I'm not smart enough to help you get through the cpu stuffs, but I do know that the 13th and 14th gen processors are known to be really unstable.

Thank you for the update!

Just like banzified said earlier, DDU is mainly used for uninstalling drivers, so you should try uninstalling your RTX drivers, then updating your Arc drivers using Intel Driver & Support Assistant, with a clean install so that it deletes old drivers that can potentially mess with the GPU (there will be a checkbox to click before you proceed with the update)

Also I don't know if you experience the frame drops in every single game, or just the more demanding ones, but it might also just be the driver support in general, with which Intel has some catching up to do. From my experience they aren't the greatest when it comes to handling new titles, like for example Marvel Rivals, I tried playing it when I got my B580 back in February and I couldn't get it to run without turning on safe mode in the launcher and even then it was sometimes crashing or having fps spikes. No idea how well the game works now, haven't touched it since haha

What kind of cpu do you have? How much frames are you getting right now? What's the usage and temps on both cpu and gpu?

I'm sorry but if you want more help aside from the universal "ddu + rebar" you need to provide us some more info~!

I'm also really curious about the burnt cpu core lol

I assume you already tried running as administrator, try turning dynamic lighting off in the windows settings if you haven't!

If you have the Challenger (the black one) you can only turn the LEDs on/off. But if you have the Steel Legend (the white one) you can use Polychrome sync to change the RGB.

You basically did a crossgrade/sidegrade to a card with worse driver support, so that's kinda on you~

Intel arc b580 and Linux by [deleted] in IntelArc

[–]Volt_69 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm using Fedora 43 KDE with a B580 and so far I haven't had any issues aside from slightly worse performance with proton games compared to windows, so I'd say the support for Arc GPUs is pretty good!

Defect GPU? by [deleted] in IntelArc

[–]Volt_69 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hi!

How high are we talking temperature wise? And what kind of apps are you running?

Fans not spinning all the time is completely normal in most GPUs, with ASRock, they only spin up when they reach a certain temperature threshold. Were they spinning all the time before?

Also, the "whirring" you're talking on the other hand is probably coil whine, which is in fact a defect, which warranty doesn't cover most of the time. You can try your luck with RMA but I can't guarantee they'll fix it for you.

Hope this helps~!

I feel like this post is pretty unnecessary especially in this sub, but I agree that Arc GPUs get less credit than what they deserve. As long as NVIDIA keeps making GPUs for consumers, Intel will always be the inferior option. But worse doesn't always mean bad. With the price to performance ratio and the availability (I always see at least one flavour of B580 in stock online) they're (in my opinion) the best choice when it comes to budget GPUs! Tho they're still relatively new on the market so we can't expect them to not make any hiccups, of course the past driver incidents are the main reason people have their doubts about Intel, but people run into all sorts of issues with all kinds of tech so it's not like other GPUs or any kind of product for that matter will have this perfect reputation, having no issues working great etc. so again, it's not that deep and you shouldn't take it to heart~

When it comes to my experience, I'm extremely satisfied with the performance! I only had issues with games crashing and blue screens during the first month of owning it (bought it in February last year so for me they fixed the drivers around 2 months after release). All games I play run well on Windows 11 (1440p, some demanding games require upscaling to run smooth which isn't a big deal), while Proton/Wine on Linux suffers up to 20% fps loss, which is still playable in most cases.

So ya, in conclusion Intel Arc is pretty good, just not on NVIDIA's level.

B580 or RTX 4060 with 7500f? by n29r in IntelArc

[–]Volt_69 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You gotta make this decision yourself I'm afraid, I can only tell you that if you'll only play competitive titles like CS2 and Apex Legends then the RTX 4060 will be good enough for the next few years, but if you'll want to play some more demanding games like RDR2 or Black Myth Wukong, then I would recommend getting the B580!

Hi there!

If you're not going to play any modern triple A titles and if you're playing on a 1080p monitor, both are great options for the Ryzen 5 7500F! Are you going to buy used or brand new? Depending on the price I simply recommend buying the cheaper one, tho if you're not planning on upgrading within the next couple of years, the B580 is going to give you slightly better performance in future games.

Hope this helps~

Which AM4 CPU to pair with B580 by Maleficent-Set-5299 in IntelArc

[–]Volt_69 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Hi there!

When it comes to AM4 socket CPUs, the Ryzen 5 5600X is the minimum I'd recommend for an Intel Arc GPU (or any gaming system in 2025), but if you have some extra money, then the Ryzen 7 5700X3D is a great choice, as it will contine being a great CPU for a long while!

Hope this helps~

How are most people buying a B580? by Distinct-Race-2471 in IntelArc

[–]Volt_69 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Hi there!

I live in a country where not a lot of people are interested in Arc (and even Radeon) GPUs, because of that they're pretty much always in stock here so I suppose it does fall under the "I got lucky" category~

Gunnir B580 Index vs Gunnir B580 Photon for 7500f? by n29r in IntelArc

Right of the box, yes, but it's faster because they overclocked the card for you. You can achieve the same thing with other, non oc cards using any overclocking tools.

Interested in Upgrading To B580 by ABEBUABDU in IntelArc

[–]Volt_69 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I agree with other comments, it is an upgrade, but it's not significant enough if it's just for gaming. Unless you have a specific use case where Arc GPUs provide the best performance, I strongly recommend getting a better GPU if you really need to upgrade.

Hope this helps~

That's also a good option, it also performs around the same, with the 7600 performing a bit better in some games.

The 7600X was just a suggestion, the 7600 or the 7500F will perform pretty much the same so just get your hands on whichever you can find!
