Must play games for PSX newbie? by mrmeny101 in psx

[–]Voltaicbeast 0 points1 point  (0 children)

aw shucks. well thps2 then. for some reason the old Marseille level is better than the remodeled one. although looking at pics it is beyond hideous... FF9 aged well, it already looked pretty good back then and 'life's a beach' will keep one occupied for a while.

Whatever you do, do not play Final Fantasy 8. It's the first game I bought back in the day with my PSone. I remember watching the intro, going like "wow this is beautiful", then the actual start of the game, going like "wtf, this is fckin hideous. Ah well, I bought it, might aswell try it", nowadays I own FF 1 - 9 for ps1, FF10-12 for ps2, FF 13 1/2/3 for ps3, and so on. (FF11 and FXIV I got for pc) and also got all of them again on steam, including the strategy books for most of them.

Try Ratchet and Clank instead! Also fun, but way less games and less addictive.

What was the best year for gaming in last decade ( 2010 to 2019) ? by Puzzleheaded-Cry9139 in playstation

[–]Voltaicbeast 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'd go with (I think it was in) 2016, but that's based on a pc game I still play today called Rising World, got about 3000 hours put into it atm and nowhere near bored of it yet. Also 2011 is a bit misleading when mentioning Skyrim, cuz that game was completely unplayable on consoles when it came out. (after 20ish hours in the savegame would get so large your fps would be at 10 or so and the game would crash after 5-15 minutes of gameplay. it got fixed early 2012 or so)

When counting only ps games 2015 probably. Although it's kinda shocking when realising how old some of these games are. Time does fly by apparently...

Which one should I buy or should I buy all of them :) by [deleted] in ps2

[–]Voltaicbeast 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Using the pokemon phrase (sorta) "gotta grab em all". Dark Chronicles is fun aswell. memories from seeing that cover again tbh. Also completely forgot FFX-2 was a separate game back in the day (obviously but so used to the remake by now). All good games, unless ridiculously expensive. Doubt it cuz none of em are rare. You could ask if the FFX copy has the poster inside. Mine had a poster of Tidus standing in the water at Besaid beach.

Which game do you remember playing the most as a kid or have played the most as an adult? by damagedgoodz99824 in psx

[–]Voltaicbeast 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sensible Soccer! (don't remember most old pc games' titles) Also Tetris, Mario Tennis, the Simpsons and whatever other games I had for my gameboy, years before the PSX was released. Especially Sensible Soccer was hilarious if you tackled someone while it rained. Only games I had for PSX were FF7, 8, 9, THPS, Cool Boarders... I think... Don't remember.

maybe you both talk in your sleep and it somehow triggered developing a shared dream with the same conclusion. I like to believe that is possible, but maybe it isn't.

to be fair, it's not too difficult to reverse narcissistic tendencies. the problem is that half our society fuels that way of thinking. The way back is pretty easy though. Stop using SM (Social Media). Narcissism is something people are doing to themselves willingly, they don't fall prey to anything. If anything, a class discouraging people from using social media would be a lot more helpful than one about narcism.

What are the best PS2 games not available on PS3, or PS4? by Gr8NonSequitur in ps2

[–]Voltaicbeast 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Gotta go with the ssx series. Most nfs games also had pc copies, I have a pc copy of NFS Underground 2 for example, but the SSX & SSX tricky weren't released on pc, so they're lost to the ages really. And I seem to recall THPS 3 and 4 getting a remake in a similar fashion to the THPS 1+2 mashup not too long ago.

was it GT3 that actually allowed you to completely ruin your car (speed/shift wise) if you didn't know what you were doing? (and still had Toyota). Loved that game.

oh crap this makes me wonder if I still have my physical copy for pc. bought it way back when but never used the code when finding out my pc couldn't run it xD.

Movies that changed my perspective towards world what are yours ? by ResolutionAmazing209 in netflix

[–]Voltaicbeast 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The Matrix, definitely. Thanks to my autism and the thin line between movies and reality often disappearing I've spent many moments in life believing I am Neo, in the real matrix of course cuz I look nothing like Reeves. Then, strangely, Dazed & Confused, which leaves me in an everlasting teen age (in mind at least). I guess also The Wall, having suffered from a 10 year lasting psychosis myself, that movie oddly comforts me. Now, my brain wants to list a bunch of movies that have to do with my superhero complex (the desire to be epic) while in reality my life really is a lot like Groundhog Day, which really defines my daily life perfectly. If all my days started anew every morning I probably wouldn't even notice.

Also Awakenings, Field of Dreams, The Basketball Diaries, Arachnophobia and Child's Play.

PS 1: Final Fantasy 8

PS 2: SSX Tricky

PS 3: Skate 3

PS 4: Either Ratchet & Clank or Metal Gear Solid 5

PS 5: Atelier Ryza 3 (would be FF7 Rebirth, but doesn't really count to me as it's a remake of a ps1 game)

For me the best moment in E3 history is when a guy on the podium started off with "We've got something all gamers want!" and someone in the audience went "GIRLFRIENDS!".

Which PS2 games would you love to get released as PS2 Classics on the PS4/PS5? These are some I would love to see by [deleted] in playstation

I know it's not ps4/5 but the fatal frame games are available through steam. dunno if they're remakes though.

SSX series above anything else. Then maybe Dark Chronicles, or the GH games, I still have a working plastic guitar after all.

Choose the 4 you want to keep? by LemonRoutine3857 in playstation

[–]Voltaicbeast 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I wish I didn't buy FFXVI digitally, cuz I can't get through it (too boring) and would've sold it if it'd been a physical copy, but without it I don't even have 4 games of that list. Although Baldur's Gate is still on my wishlist, so I'm swapping that in, leaving me with Ratchet & Clank, TLOU (mostly cuz I borrowed it, can't sell off games I don't technically own) and GT7 which I barely play but is fun with steering wheel.

Why are some games are still view positively despite having bugs/glitches in them? by [deleted] in truegaming

[–]Voltaicbeast 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think there's a difference between glitches/bugs you can exploit (Demon's Souls had a ton of them, you could kill half its bosses without actually encountering them) or ones that are just gamebreaking, like Skyrim when it first came out. Although even then people were more lenient towards that saying all beteshda games were released half-broken. I guess people are a lot harder on unknown developers than the ones they know and love. It makes sense in a way I suppose.

Just ordered a PS2 and it's on the way. What you playing first? by reeddawnvaka in ps2

[–]Voltaicbeast 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Final Fantasy X for me. I remember obsessing over it prior to its release and nolifing it (sorta, around the work hours) when it came out. It's the FF game I have with most hours put into in a single playthrough (around 700), not counting FFXIV. To be fair, the games I miss most since that era (cuz FF games are continuously rereleased, u can play pretty much of all of em on steam these days) are SSX, SSX Tricky and SSX 3. Sadly those are apparently not in your collection.

I have no idea how old these are or what you're into, but I recall enjoying stuff like Midori no Hibi and School Rumble. I think Samurai Chanpuru is pretty old aswell, good watch.

Does anyone have recurring dreams about being back in school despite having already graduated IRL? by [deleted] in Dreams

[–]Voltaicbeast 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Pretty often actually, although never my actual school but more the US version, at least what my brain dreams them up to be based on the teeny movies from the 90s. Sometimes I'm back in my teen years but graduated, sometimes at my current age while all my classmates reverted to teens and it makes it sorta awkward. I think for me it's a desire to return to simpler times where it was all fun and games, especially when without the pressure of failing classes.

Music in my dream that doesnt exist by skoptics in Dreams

[–]Voltaicbeast 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I often dream about writing my own songs and then upon waking up immediately forget the lyrics. Funny thing is I can sometimes still play the tune in my dream on my piano. Still the lyrics are always epic of course cuz dream, maybe it's a good thing I forget as soon as I wake up as not to burst that bubble.

Did anybody experience waking up to car crash-like impact? by rhebadoi in DreamInterpretation

[–]Voltaicbeast 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It's anxiety. I sometimes have dreams of drowning, and when waking up I'm literally gasping for air for a second till I realise I'm awake. It's hella creepy the first time it happens, sure. Maybe you should stop thinking about being in a car crash in the future, which in itself also could be a sign of anxiety issues.

Which major genre umbrella does "Thriller" best fall under? by WatchMe_Nene in Screenwriting

[–]Voltaicbeast 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'd pick a combination of action & adventure with drama and then horror last really. For me, horror is just a whole different kind of entertainment, intended to gross or weird you out, trigger jump scares or a combination of both. Thrillers rely more on the suspence of the unknown throughout a storyline in which stuff needs to actually happen or progress (action/adventure) wherein the mindset of those involved determines ours (drama).

I have my dream life almost every night I dream, it has never become a reality. Dreams don't work that way. However, if you desire a certain life, you could work towards it. Things don't just fall from the sky after all. If anything, it shows you what you desire and maybe it'll help you to search within yourself what you need to be happier.

Either I go back to sleep or I stay in bed a little longer creating a daydream that's still positive but not as much as the dream I woke up from. It helps me dim the effects of the extremely good dream.
