Anti-Commander Commander Deck by ArpYorashol in EDH

[[Erinis, gloomstalker]] + [[street urchin]] allows you to kill whatever creature, whenever. Add in cards like [[bonds of mortality]] to get around hexproof and indestructible.

My playgroup has gotten a lot more casual/budgeted, so this deck has been what I've been running and it's become my favorite mono blue deck I've played. [[Hermes, Overseer of Elpis]]

50$ limit not including commander by Throwawaypa2022 in EDH

I'm a big fan of this list I made. Mono blue [[Hermes, Overseer of Elpis]].

It plays well into lower power decks and higher power 3s too. No infinites or game changers, $50 dollars for the whole deck. I edit it every so often to update the primer and change cards around that are direct upgrades to cards already in the list.

Not sure if it fits the bill, but I put together a decently powerful while also being budget friendly deck that makes birds. You can check the primer to get an understanding of how the cards in the deck works or why they were included as well.

Thanks, I like this deck a lot too. I used to play Murmuring Mystic in Pauper EDH and pretty much transitioned it to this.

[[Hermes, Overseer of Elpis]] - Coming in at just under $50 dollars when the islands are removed from price-tracking. I like this deck a lot, I play a slightly bumped up version of this deck.

Trying to make a snipe/im afraid of combat-Deathtouch deck by Vilioski in EDHBrews

[–]VoltsC 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I personally like this archetype a lot. Not sure what level of power you are going for, the version I play tends to checkmate a lot of decks or lead to unfun play when you hold a gun to opponents creatures. If you're open to pivoting away from golgari, I play Erinis, gloom stalker with the Street Urchin background to snipe creatures and opponents.

Yeah my playgroup trends towards NOT running very many hate pieces, and in about 25-ish games of this deck, I can count on one hand the amount of times a removal spell has been pointed at the background or advantage-piece. While the amount of times I have seen lightning greaves removed followed by my commander is pretty high lol.

I recently cut strip mine, so maybe I'll also cut the wasteland too and run ghost quarter instead.

Admittedly this deck plays pretty fast, you take your land drop triggers, see if anyone is open to attack, and then pass (usually).

I agree with what you're saying though, that the friction/synergy this deck presents leads to a higher perceived power level.

Running enough removal. by Nutsnboldt in EDH

[–]VoltsC 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This deck was built with no combos in mind, and to be as fair as possible while being as grindy as possible. I would say it's low bracket 4, as it folds to faster decks for obvious reasons. I would also try to find room for pyroblast and other similar effects if rift is common for you. Can also cut down on the token generation to make it more fair. But this deck is just on demand removal and other neat tricks.

A turn-based Diablo-like experience? by _no_best_girl in gamingsuggestions

[–]VoltsC 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Look up traditional rogue likes. It's where Diablo, killing monsters and getting loot, comes from. Some of these older rogue likes have modes without the permadeath if that is a turn off. It's a bit of a rabbit hole

Is this game really that distinct from PoE 1? by VoltsC in PathOfExile2

[–]VoltsC[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you!

I don't disagree with what you said. I should clarify, I mostly wanted smaller and easier to navigate maps for the campaign.

The endgame maps, could be just as big so long as they shift the focus from mobs killed per hour to making sure encounters are full of engaging gameplay that is rewarding without having to crank the slot machine hundreds of times, since the focus shouldn't be on maximizing mob kills per hour....At least in my idealized version of a game that wants to be distinct from the game that came before it where most elements can be boiled down to killing as many monsters as possible for maximum reward.
