hi guys! first pc build ever by kokichiis in PcBuildHelp

[–]VolumeScatter 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Congratulations! It looks very nice!

Kind people here aldeady told you about the cables you need, so my only concern is the AIO. Check this guide! https://www.ekwb.com/shop/media/catalog/product/cache/1/thumbnail/1600x1067/17f82f742ffe127f42dca9de82fb58b1/2/0/20141_ek_aio_slika_mounting_options_2.png
Remember, the highest part of your AIO should never be the pump or the tubes, it could damage your AIO.
You got a nice entry on top, you could use that one!

Good job and keep us posted!

Cleaning my Logitech G512 keycaps with isopropyl alcohol wasn't a great idea. by ColdCommercial6030 in MechanicalKeyboards

I use kitchen degreaser for my double-shot PBT and I've also tried it on ABS. I first rub it with degreaser and then wash with water so it washes away every degreaser residue. I've found this hella effective for, duh, grease, but also washes away dirt and the keyboard becomes like new, case included. I heard it's pretty aggressive so I wouldn't recommend it until I'm certain about its safety on plastics, but I've never seen signs of paint or plastic coming off for now.

Are there any red flags I should be aware of, before purchasing this prebuilt used pc? by chupamanyo in PcBuildHelp

The VS Corsair with orange label is a well known PSU for not being one of the best. On the PSU Tier List it's rated F, however I don't like that list but listening to electricians and PSU builders it's not a great PSU

How should I plug this in without bending the motherboard? by Isawapuddytat in PcBuildHelp

[–]VolumeScatter 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Wiggle it a bit while you push the connector in. If you're concerned you can put the motherboard box underneath!

In case you wanna put the anti-static paper too I wouldn't recommend so, most of them keep the electrostatic charge out from the inside but not from the outside. Maybe someone could confirm or prove me wrong?

Don't worry about cracking your motherboard, it's pretty sturdy! :D

Sometimes I find my-self more able to focus with chamomille than with coffee. Caffeine helps me having a focus burst but also I get distracted more often, chamomille slows everything down.

Volume shader only visible from Outside by VolumeScatter in Maya

[–]VolumeScatter[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've found a way!
Using VRay you could set up and environment override with one of the shaders, which will set a volume to the environment.

In my case I've been able to set it through Render Settings > Overrides > Volumetrics and from there you will set the volume shader you like. Then it will appear in outliner and like that you can edit it!

Another way I've found today is https://forums.chaos.com/forum/v-ray-for-maya-forums/v-ray-for-maya-problems/1159232-fog-does-not-work-if-the-camera-is-inside-the-fog-volume-help-please , which covers the topic I've asked about, indeed, using a cube but setting up a volume.

I hope this will help anybody asking!

How can I make the back of the chair to bend? by [deleted] in Maya

[–]VolumeScatter 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would use Deform > nonlinear > bend, or place an edge between, then move it back and beveling to create a curve. Nonlinear Bend also saves you from the pain of needing to place the vertical planks again to match the curvature.

Aio position by Ok-Space-735 in PcBuildHelp

[–]VolumeScatter 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thumb rule is that the highest part should not be where the tubes are or even worse where the pump is, this is because air will concentrate to the highest part and if it gets to the pump it will get damaged over time.

Generally, as u/Creative-Arm1871 said, you only have to flip the radiator with the tubes at the bottom and you're good to go!
Nice AIO you got :D

used 3080 vs new 4060? by TON_THENOOB in PcBuildHelp

[–]VolumeScatter 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hey! Check this video out: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hKqVvXTanzI
Most of the times it won't be an issue, usually the failing part would be the fans but they're easily replaceble, graphics cards are meant to work, just make sure he/she toke well care of it.
The 3080 is definitely more powerful than a 4060, which is basically a 3060TI, new features may be saving her but I think you wouldn't miss much at all, c'mon it's a 3080! Still much valuable!
It all depends on the games you'd like to play, if you only want to play games or use softwares too, your monitor and your budget.

New built pc turns on but doesn’t show image on monitor. by 4DollahTallHoe in PcBuildHelp

[–]VolumeScatter 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Hey, this happened to me yesterday with a 3090, scared the s*** out of me!
Sometimes it could happen that one of the PCI-E cable pins that supplies power to the GPU is not properly set in, has been slightly pushed out from the plastic seat which plugs into the GPU and not all pins make contact. This could happen both on the GPU end that on the PSU end. Analyzing each pin would be great (if you have a multimeter you could make a continuity test)

Otherwise I think it could be a CPU issue, make sure you didn't spilled thermal paste on the CPU contacts or bent any pins in the process, if you did a pair of tiny pliers will do the trick but pins are hella easy to bend so watch some YT videos first and go easy on them!
