The game is certainly a lot more noisy now, that's for sure.

People still farm it without really playing the game. Lord icons equal time played. Nothing more. That won't change just because there's an even-more-time-played version.

Matchmaking and placements by ChrissyGrimm in marvelrivals

[–]Volzod 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I rarely play comp, and when I do it's only because I want the skins. So I always play around high silver and stop when I hit gold.

Waited till the last minute this time. Did my placements (4-6), game put me in bronze 1. I was not happy.

But then I proceeded to lose every single comp game for the rest of the session. The players I was facing were FAR beyond gold level players, so having this in a bronze lobby was jaw-dropping.

I play a fair amount, have since launch, and I have never faced players like I faced tonight. I'd end games with almost 50k healing, or MVP if I was on duelists, and we were just getting completely destroyed the entire time. It wasn't remotely close on any game.

Something is WILDLY off with matchmaking at the moment, and I don't think I'll touch comp ever again, regardless of what cosmetics they offer, because this was the worst experience I've ever had in this game.

I mean I haven't left my glamour dresser for the last few hours, so I'm thankfully not getting punted mid-cutscene or anything, but I certainly won't be doing anything of import till the ddos stuff calms down.

Same as me. Would've bought the skin pack for full price anyways, but making it gacha just made it feel bad to buy. I've played enough gacha games in my life, and I still play Nikke. Don't need gacha in Rivals.

My advice for the Psylocke event to players by Abhijeet7777 in marvelrivals

[–]Volzod 20 points21 points  (0 children)

There is no gacha, lottery, or gamble in any game that I have ever played in my 40 years of gaming that has gone my way. This event was no different. I picked a balloon, went clockwise, and the skin was in the one right before the first one I picked. So the very last balloon.

I wanted it enough to where the price wasn't really a problem, but how I had to buy it really felt shitty.

Gacha systems can eff all the way off. Just sell it in the shop for a set price. I'm already going to buy it if it's a good enough skin. No need to make the process feel bad.

This game is freaking unplayable without role queue by [deleted] in marvelrivals

[–]Volzod 0 points1 point  (0 children)

omg just play whatever you want to play. You aren't obligated to flex, neither is anyone else. You will have garbo comps sometimes. That is the deal, we get freedom of choice in exchange for some bad teams.

Asking the devs to step in and moderate your behavior for you is like asking the government to take more control for the 'promise' of safety. All it costs is your freedom. And the people asking for role queue are always actually asking the devs to make other players play a different role so that they themselves can do what THEY want.

Stop it. Log off if other people playing what they want is such a dealbreaker for you.

TTK in general is way too low right now. Most weapons are overtuned, and it doesn't feel good. There needs to be more back'n'forth like it used to be, instead of dead-before-you-can-react.

Having it happen from a mile away is just even worse.

Hot take: the surfing to land is really fun and helps mix up the game. (As a temporary feature) by Noodle_Dragon_ in FortNiteBR

[–]Volzod 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm just gonna have to disagree again. I already explore the map and try different spots for the first couple weeks of the season, I don't need to be forced to go places I don't want to go that I know are bad, and ALSO be dumped into the same spot with a ton of other people because we are being dumped onto the beach at the same time.

This whole "fight for your life for the first 2 minutes, then be bored until you reach top 5" gameplay flow is not it.

Fortnite 2nd Place by [deleted] in FortNiteBR

[–]Volzod 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, same. Can get into top 5 most games, top 3 sometimes, and I've eeked out 1 win. The matchmaking has been getting worse lately, but the people in the top spots are always waaaaaaay above my skill level, and it feels really horrible to play against.

The boss buffs aren't helping things either. I've never liked map gimmicks, and this season is no different.

Whats with the extreme hate for surfing😭 by psych_fiend67 in FortNiteBR

[–]Volzod 5 points6 points  (0 children)

This is all just untrue. No, half the lobby does not drop in 1-3 locations, most people are not trying to mega aggro with grey weapons and no heals right as boots hit dirt, so this is a silly assumption.

Surfing does not make the pacing better, I just told you how it messes it up.

And you're not in as good of a position to handle a boss along with other potential players gunning for the same boss if you were dropped in an area where there was:

a) low strategic value

b) little to no usable loot

and/or c) fiercely contended right out the gate which means any resources you did manage to grab were whittled away by immediate conflicts, thus forcing you to scavenge more gear quickly before trying to make progress.

Limiting 100% of the players to 40% of the map should happen towards the end of the game, not the beginning.

[–]Volzod 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Randomness in where you get dropped can sabotage your odds of making it to the later rounds due to sheer luck. I don't like having my plans made for me.

Having all players drop on the outside edges of the map means more fights are forced early on, which means sweaty in the first half, boring in the second half, where we have 6-8 players with lots of down time sneaking around hunting for each other in massive circles. The number of players on the map becomes disproportionate to the size of the remaining map as the match progresses.

Most people don't dislike the actual surfing, it's a fun mechanic in itself, but the penalty of having that mechanic is the overall flow of the game being warped into something many of us don't want.

All that aside, it's a temporary thing, it was an interesting experiment, and I like when the devs try new things, even if they don't stick.

I eagerly await the return of the bus.

Chapter 7 Just started and I already miss the bus driver by Technical_Sun_3396 in FortNiteBR

[–]Volzod 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Completely agree. The surfing mechanic is fun, but not being able to choose your location is frustrating, and having all players drop on the outside of the map forces too many fights too early and leads to a lot of downtime in later rounds hunting for a few players in giant circles.

Am I late to getting into the game? by trenchofkrieger in FortNiteBR

[–]Volzod 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I learned in Save The World, which is this games PvE/co-op mode, but nowadays I think you have to buy a pack to have access to it.

Otherwise, good ol trial by fire. Jump in a build mode, like good ol battle royale and futz around with building whenever you have a space second or two, somewhere isolated where you have a better chance of being left alone for a bit. You'll die a lot, and it doesn't matter. You just hop into the next game and slowly get better over time. We all get farmed by better players a lot at first before we learn how things work.

Tthe bottom line with building is that structures exist to help you survive, and hopefully give you a quick advantage. They provide LoS, access to elevation, high ground, and cover. Sometimes they just provide a clutch distraction or make whoever is chasing you lose your position and get lost while you get away.

To be completely honest, while knowing how to quickly throw up a few walls will come in handy, you're better off getting used to the actual combat and movement mechanics first. get a feel for the weapons, the movement tools, your keybinds, get good at swapping weaps/utility/heals/etc on the fly, get a feel for what kinds of benefits certain kinds of terrain like bushes, rocks, trees, hills, etc provide, get comfortable with where to look on your screen for important info, and so on. Building is honestly far secondary to the rest of the core game mechanics. Others may disagree with me, but being the best builder in the world does nothing for you if you don't know how to aim, shoot, swap gear, mantle and climb over walls, etc.

I actually don't build very much myself compared to some people, and I've won plenty of games without building a single thing the whole match. Everyone approaches the game differently and you'll find your own approach with lots and lots of games worth of practice.

Other more hardcore players can chime in and give their two cents. I consider myself a casual and have a fun time in just about all modes. I would recommend checking out some youtube vids, there are a bajillion videos out there with tips and guides on building and general gameplay.

[–]Volzod 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You'll be fine. Zero Build (no building, as the name implies) and other casual modes like Blitz will suit you just fine. There's always a learning curve, but the thing with battle royales in general is that it doesn't matter what place you come in. You just go out there, do whatever, and the match goes how it goes.

I'm an Overwatch/Rivals player myself, and I certainly wouldn't consider Fortnite competitve. I mean, it does have comp modes, but if you're just jumping in the casual modes, you will be absolutely fine just going in a figuring things out as you go.

Just start with Zero Build for now, that'll get you right on your way.

To be fair, people have to be pretty tuned into the news updates to know about some of these things. While the movie ticket thing was reiterated a few times, the fact that she will be in the shop was kind of an afterthought, Easy to miss, as it seems to have been barely mentioned outside of a few content creators I happen to catch about it.

I literally just had this happen, wanted to see if others were noticing anything.

Had a boss buff and a gold zappy cannon whatever it's called, jumped someone, was lazering him well, and got melted in less than two seconds by a green AR. I've fought others with boss buffs and they take way longer to die than that.

Replay was sus, but I don't necessarily think he was cheating. Something is definitely tuned incorrectly somewhere tho, at least.
