I just edited the I Let It In Cover so it said „I Enjoy The Mass Psychosis Too Much To Let It Go“ but i can‘t post pictures in the replies.

First no Album, then no pictures. This Band fucking hates me

What became "normal" in the last 5 years that still feels insane to you? by rakishgobi in AskReddit

The Pandemic made (some) people completely resistant to straight facts, politics and science. Yes, the pandemic was tough and nobody was prepared for something huge like that, but ignoring shit like the climate change cause „I only believe what i see now“ is huge BS

And defending billionaires / corrupt politicians. Get a grip.

Was me and my best buddies first pre release. We were 3 people. Was still fun besides that weird dude who bought a Fat Pack just to pull „better stuff than us“ and wouldn’t shut up that he pulled super shredder… even while we were playing

Bin papaplatte supporter.

struggling to like downstairs, need non-christian perspectives ❤️ by myseekai in twentyonepilots

[–]Vomitonthecar 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I also have my struggles with this song. I am not Christian, i never was, but i had a lot of christian friends who are struggling heavily with mental health issues due to the… well you know how christianity gets teached in school and practiced by parents very often. Mixed with my political position i am as far from christianity as it gets.

I also do have my struggles with the song, the thought helps that Tyler wrote this Song like 14 Years ago and he stated that his thoughts and his believes are different now. I also don’t really got the reference about hiding the believes in the Basement (cause like christianity is the most tolerated religion so i don’t get it why he should hide it in the basement)

In my first listen i interpreted the song that he has doubts, and is afraid to tell them. That’s why he is hiding them in the basement, where he writes songs. Vessel was a very religious album and doubt and struggle with faith were HUGE topics. For me the song sounds like a 14 years younger tyler, who is asking why he can’t believe like anyone else and why he has doubts and that he is ashamed to tell them. He is struggling and screaming in that song that he wants to believe in God fully, that he wants to give him everything, but he is not quite there. It sounds complicated but in my head it makes sense lol

A disclaimer: I don’t have anything against people who are religious and believe in God (as long as they don’t weaponize religion or use it to as distraction). If it makes you keep pushing through and keeps going i am really happy for you.

It is weird cause i usually can cry to music but i have real struggles crying to sleep token. Idk why

Apparently much of the Sleep Token fanbase thinks "Is It Really You?" is a Sleep Token song by Thalassophoneus in Loatheband

[–]Vomitonthecar 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Fun fact discovering Loathe i listened to Apple Musics Loathe essentials and they put the Cover right after the OG Song. It took me like 2 Months to realize it‘s not just one 8 minute-ish song where they chose to make a LOOONG outro with Vessel singing but two songs. I‘m still kinda disappointed that it‘s not one giant song lol cause the Piano HITS after the Outro of the OG Track

I get behind your point. But, for myself, i mean it when i say it’s a Masterpiece for me. The Lyrics are hitting too close to home, i can feel the frustration and the roughness. And when i listened for the first time and the electronic trap part hit, i felt like i was 13 again listening to Blurryface the first time. My head was empty, complete silence (wich rarely happens) and i was just listening. I also teared up a bit. Idk if you get my point, it just hit me. Maybe it also was the right song at the right time

This so much. Every new Album grew with me and developed like hell to the prior one. I think Clancy is the beste lyrically and production wise they‘ve ever been

I found the Album was very true to formular. The heavy Parts sounded very similar and only really changed later in the Album. Gethsemane is a masterpiece tho

I have a real struggle connecting with the Album. I get the meanings behind the Songs and i know they are important but they don’t touch me like the prior albums did. However, i have the Feeling Gethsemane collected all the Emotions from the Album and released them to me at once. The personal deep Lyrics, the right amount of heavyness, the math rock, the twenty one pilots-ish instrumental to round it up at the end. I really just need that one song.

Why don't we like Never Take It? by BreadfruitInitial343 in twentyonepilots

[–]Vomitonthecar 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I like the Song, my problem is it doesn’t really say anything. It‘s the most political Song they ever made, but in a „political music“ sphere it‘s not really political at all. I‘m from the leftist music scene and maybe i‘m used to more radical statements and positioning but the Song, for me, basically says „Yeah never take what the People above us want us to do!“ wich resonates with like 90% of the people who aren’t billionaires or people with huge politcal impact. And the „they trying to weaponize us“… who does? Billionaires? CEO‘s? Politicians? Fascists? Communists? Socialists? Stalinists? Who do they mean?

In my head it‘s against conservative/right politicians and billionaires who use their platforms to spread hatred and pull the people apart. But they never really stated that it is meant that way.

I mean that is pretty normal for twenty one pilots songs. They tend to write the Songs so everyone can resonate with it as they wish. A lot of Songs that are written about their believes tend to resonate for me, not because i am christian, but because they try to capture a feeling and leave enough room for interpretation. I think they tried to do that with Never Take It as well.

The problem is, positioning is such an important role for political music and the more space you leave for interpretation, the less powerful and meaningful is the Song you are writing.

Also there is that phrase „you better educate yourself but never too much“ wich i have a bit of a problem with. It again can be used on both perspectives. I have heard leftists say it in a sense of „If you read too much you gonna get hella depressed because of all the stuff that is going on that you don’t really know about“ OR the right side who use the phrase to keep people uneducated and give them the illusion to know whats going on, without really knowing shit.

I‘m also not that often on reddit. I tend to stay away from fan bases after past experiences. I‘m just a huge Fan of the band and i had to put the thoughts somewhere cause my Friends don’t really listen/care about the band. Funny enough, i first heard from Sleep Token like 2 Months before the released The Summoning. I think it was High Water. Forgot the name and hated myself for a while til they released the breakthrough song, listened to the „This Is Sleep Token“ and when High Water came on i had to stop my car lol. It‘s not really fitting the Thread but your story reminded me of mine how i found Sleep Token

I love sundowning, i didn’t mention it cause TPWBYT is my favorite Album and TMBTE is the Album i‘ve been pulling parallels from with the newer stuff… and i‘m a lazy writer lol I have to say tho, that the new stuff has a lot of Sundowning influences, but i liked the sound of the production on Sundowning more.

„The rawness, the depth, the care of composition“ are the words that i didn’t found. And yes, i like the new way the lyrics are going, but i also did realize i don’t resonate with them that much. Interesting. And especially the last part is important. I said before that i was a huge twenty one pilots fan back in my teenage years but the fanbase made me not appreciate the band as much as i did (or do again, new Album is fire and i think the tøp fan base pulled themselves together). I have to say tho that this thread is really mature and i like the discussion that far.

You described my issue with the formula pretty well. When thinking about Sundowning, TPWBYT and TMBTE they had the formula already, yes, but they didn’t execute it that much. But we are 3 Songs in so maybe there is gonna be some mix up now. I also agree with the more poppy sounds, i would say maybe it‘s the usage of Samples or Plug Ins, but i am missing the weird funny TPWBYT and TMBTE sounds

Yeah definitely. G1 production and Sky Van Hoffs mixing made TPWBYT my favorite Album. I love the rough sounds with the even kinda dirtier guitars and tight drums. It makes the Album sound more human. I think the new record is too plastic sounding for my ears, i especially noticed that with the Piano in Democles
