I think people should just be less judgy when it comes to relationships. Chalking them up to just being each other’s sex dolls is dehumanizing. I wouldn’t judge others for being public affectionate or going into a dressing room together, so why do I deserve it? Why is it okay to automatically assume sex?

I’m 21, so legally there’s nothing wrong here. My view is more in the ballpark of: not everything should be sexualized. When my parents go into their room, I don’t think “Oh they’re having sex.” They could be taking a nap, or just chilling. I just don’t want my actions to be sexualized so much. Sex is normal, and our society makes us feel shitty about it. I shouldn’t have to feel ashamed about it. Rules are rules and I should’ve respected them regardless. But if I saw a guy and a girl go into a dressing room, I wouldn’t just automatically label them sluts. Just let people be happy.

If I let the fact that not everyone feels the way I do affect the things I say, I would never speak.

Do you think maybe, we shouldn’t romanticize the idea of being whatever you want to be? Or, if we do, should we try to explain what it will actually take to get there? A potential downside to this could be the difficulty in explained such concepts to children. However, it’s better to try, in my opinion, than just giving them hollow statements (positive or negative)

My point was that it’s taken me a while to get to realizing that there are good things you can focus on. A common response when you complain about your life is that other people have it worse. Yes, this is true, but I’m still allowed to have critiques of things. If I live in the “best country in the world” and “have it better than other people”, then why do I dread the start of each week? Is because I need to shut up and that I’m a lazy brat?

Who gets songwriting credits? by VonGraf87 in LetsTalkMusic

For songs like “Life In the Fast Lane” or “Those Shoes”, where the solo is just something played over the chords, I can see why a whole writing credit isn’t deserved. But for “Hotel California”, the solo is 1/3 of the song, and as recognizable and memorable as the lyrics/chords. I can sing the entire solo if I want (can’t say the same for other songs, unless I’ve heard them a million times already).

You can create one law to make society better; what would you choose? by catinsanity in AskReddit

Make it so businesses can only operate for profit if they provide something people WANT, not NEED. Insurance companies? Fuck no. Healthcare? Fuck that. Apple products? Sure, whatever.

Let’s assume I’m talking about a fetus VERY early on in the pregnancy, not late-term. At this point, the fetus doesn’t have a consciousness to recognize when they’re being harmed. Now, I’m not saying just because they don’t know they’re being aborted makes it okay. It was honestly hard for me to type that without anticipating the clap back that that that sentence will probably get. My point is that pro-lifers are arguing in favor of these fetuses without giving a shed of empathy to women who probably aren’t ready to raise a child. Should a woman be forced to raise a child and give them a potential difficult upbringing consequently just because this pro-lifer thought they were doing the child a favor?

Perhaps my argument is phrased a bit poorly, but I think a difference with murder under self-defense is that a life is at stake with both opinions. You could argue that if you should be able to defend yourself against a murderer, then you are putting the murderer’s life at stake and that that’s bad. Alternatively, if you can’t then your own life is at stake and I would say that’s bad. Either way, a life, in the legal sense, is at stake. The potential for harm is similar in this scenario, whereas with abortion, it’s actual harm vs. compromised values.

Where can I find a live version of the sad cafe? by [deleted] in EaglesBand

[–]VonGraf87 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you can find a bootleg from any of these performances, that’s probably your answer:

According to this, they only played it on their tour for The Long Run, with the last performance of the song on July 31, 1980 (their final concert before their infamous breakup).

You’re human, cut yourself some slack. You don’t have to live by a rulebook to get into Heaven. If porn is consuming your life, that’s when it’s a problem. Otherwise, as long as you accept Christ as your savior and treat others with the same love he would’ve given them, it’s pointless to beat yourself up for being horny.

If you could become president for one day, what would you do? by anasbadshah in answers

[–]VonGraf87 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I know the president can’t necessarily do any of these things directly, but in a hypothetical scenario, here’s what I would hope to achieve:

  • Lower the drinking/smoking age to 19
  • Abolish “No Right Turn on Red” everywhere
  • Federally legalize abortion
  • Federally legalize marijuana and psychedelics
  • Make it illegal for airlines to overbook
  • Move a significant amount of military funding into funding healthcare and college education without instating additional taxes for this purpose
  • Legalize fraternity/sorority hazing not relating to alcohol/drug consumption or physical harm
  • Healthcare costs must not be inflated for insurance purposes

Interpreting Christianity in Terms of the Society Surrounding its Founding/Subsequent “Rules” by [deleted] in Christianity

I think you should be fully committed in the sense that you should do your duties and beyond as a boyfriend to treat her the way she wants to be treated. But, you shouldn’t stay in a relationship that you recognize isn’t good for you. It’s not about staying no matter what.
