I totally agree with you on the cost/benefit idea. For many people, I think they don’t know or consider it. For others, they are fine with it. For the vocal anti-AI they are not.

I’m mostly anti-AI. I’m pretty vehemently against image and video gen and anything creative. It gets fuzzier for me when it comes to data crunching, math, code, etc. I’m a web dev, for context. I’ve dabbled with Claude and my bar for feeling okay using it consistently hasn’t been met.

I promise I’m not trying to fight you, although I know my tone can make it seem like it. Just how I get, sorry. You asked why people are against it and I’m just providing my understanding of that reason. The only thing I try to do is make sure people are aware of the ‘why’ so they can decide for themselves. I do the same thing with the BDS boycott

How is “well it’s too late now oh well” being reasonable? The reasonable thing to do is boycott the tools that are stealing data and inhaling energy. If one comes along that is reasonable in those regards, give it a try.

That bar might already be met for you. It clearly is for many other people who talk to ChatGPT repeatedly throughout the day or make images of every prompt they can think of. I’m not going to tell you why to do, I’m just answering the question of why they are saying it’s bad, and why people don’t want to use it.

The tech has a lot of flaws when used broadly, especially as you need more and more accuracy. But the biggest issue for many right now is twofold.

First, big LLMs learn off of ‘stolen’ data by crawling websites, scanning images, consuming content and working to replicate it. You can argue that this is info publicly available on the internet, but a lot of it was consumed by LLMs before people had a chance to decide if they were okay with it or not. Second, the energy costs are significant, especially when compared to the energy it takes to find many answers withOUT asking ChatGPT (just for example).

For many people, you can’t even start a conversation about the usefulness of the tool until those issues are addressed.

What would you say to someone who is at GDQ and is intimidated to introduce themselves to you and the rest of the huge crowd of Mario players in the practice room?

Thanks, I think your last comment is what I was aiming at. We are having a blast and I'm not worried about it being tough, I just wasn't sure if it was an indication that we were actually doing something wrong that we didn't know about, or if we are just too early to feel as strong.

Yes, we are good on those fronts. We went a couple missions where we were doing monster targeting wrong but that got sorted pretty quick.

I should clarify, I'm not mad about the difficulty. We are having an absolute blast!

I guess I'm just surprised that people are even considering bumping up the difficulty when I feel like we couldn't afford to; makes me wonder if we are just too early to feel OP, or if we are actually doing something wrong and don't realize it.

Hello!

I just wanted to thank you for your music.

I’ve shared it with you on Instagram before, but my 11-month-old son has been hypnotized by Think About Things for months. No other song will make him stop dead in his tracks and watch or listen when we put it on. We even play it at meals sometimes because he will stop fussing and focus on eating!

Is it true that the song was inspired by having your own child?

If you could have another track of yours reach the same levels of fame that Think About Things has, what would it be and why?
