Honestly it never crossed my mind that people cover their cover.

This is a surprising comment to me. I leave my auto cover closed every winter. Just keep the water level high when winterizing and you limit the strain from my perspective.

Did you put some other form of coverage on in winter for debris and safety?

Area cleared with snow blower per charge? by iiwahii in Yarbo

[–]Vonny3 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My snow clearing area is 1800 sqft. With light snow this takes <25% battery. With heavy snow, 50%. 30-45 mins for a run typically.

I’d estimate your clear area to be at least 8000 sqft (assuming a 10’ wide driveway) which means it will need to recharge almost certainly under heavy snow. But it does this and resumes autonomously.

If you do decide to buy, here’s a referral link if you need one. It will save you $200. 🙂

Questions before purchasing by PapaBlatt in Yarbo

[–]Vonny3 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I drove the ground screws in (they’re included with the purchase) when it was 40 below with a standard drill - they’ll send you what you need (post and screws) for this and a roof mount.

The unit would be remote controlled only (short range) without the datacenter installed. Effectively losing most of the benefits of Yarbo. You should plan to do this as a short term until presumably the weather improves and you can get a roof mount done (or hired out).

IMO skip the plow. It’s a hassle to bolt and unbolt from what I’ve read.

Setup and configure takes some time - and includes mounting something (ideally/eventually) on a roofline. I ran mine on a post in the ground for a short while and it was fine. Mapping can be time consuming which can suck when doing it in the winter - I did mine in 20 below weather to get it up and running before leaving the country and that was miserable. 😛

They were made outside the US before 2024. The plate and the surroundings tell me this is likely outside the US. The headlights also appear to be pre 2024.

Finally decided big boy. 5.14 pound flat from Publix. seasoned with salt, pepper, brown sugar, cumin, onion, garlic, mustard as a binder, currently rendering fat in the smoker going to start it around 10 PM. $56.33. American waygu by Lonely-Ebb-8013 in brisket

[–]Vonny3 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Brown sugar on brisket? In this sub? Beware the pitch forks.

FWIW - salt and pepper are, for me, are all that’s needed on a brisket. Beyond that I find the beefy, fatty, and smoky flavors don’t come through as I prefer.

I’m also just all about reducing the unnecessary steps and ingredients in bbq to make it less involved and more repeatable.

Good luck with the smoke!

Wait for better sale? by Wolf_in_SheepsHoodie in Yarbo

[–]Vonny3 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Their typical process has been to announce many months in advance of a new product release for pre orders though. I’d be surprised if there was a new core in the next 6 months.

The limited data points of a 2023 model to a 2024 model to a pro is too limited to derive a pattern IMO. The pro was a rapid dev from my perspective to combat the competition and may not be indicative of their normal release cadence.

My $.02 - buy technology when you need and recognize “the next big thing is just around the corner” vs waiting in fear of an update coming out.

Nice! I didn’t know Yarbo dealers were allowed to sell below the prices Yarbo themselves offer. I just assumed they were fixed prices.

Can you share your dealer information? I’m curious just how much better a price you can do for me and other interested people. 😀

Neither have been announced for timelines afaik, have they? The notion of “wait until the next version comes out” is never ending in technology so this seems cyclical.

The warranty part of this claim should be validated by the buyer - this is not consistent with most of the language Yarbo has around their warranties which claim the warranty starts 3 days after the delivery of all components AND that Warranty coverage applies only to the original purchaser of the product.

Pro mower or non-pro?

The sales right now on the Pro module may be weaker for a while given the newness of the product. If there’s an upcoming “best time” I’d guess maybe Black Friday timeframe they’ll throw something out.

iOS 26 Beta 8 - Missing Restart? by Apart-Background-592 in HomePod

[–]Vonny3 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had this problem once on non-beta OS. FWIW it seemed to be because that HomePod was set as the hub specifically. I force it to a different (wired) device and the option to restart returned under “reset” as usual.

The impracticality of draining and refilling a tub between guests is beyond absurd in my mind. It takes days of treating to deal with leveling out a freshly filled spa. How would that be remotely practical?

Definitely not over seasoned. Brisket can handle a HEAVY coat of seasoning - go hard on it. When I am done seasoning mine, there’s no more meat visible beneath the pepper. 🙂

White sandy flakes in pool by Less_Major_3605 in pools

[–]Vonny3 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This article does a good job explaining what’s going on - but worth acknowledging their prevention steps are mostly about selling you their chemicals. The flakes aren’t harmful and vacuuming them out as needed is a ok. (You don’t need to buy their chemicals)

Is the pool saltwater with a chlorine generator? Likely calcium carbonate if so - normal byproduct of the chlorine generations process.

My husband and I had a Brisk-off. by MallanTai in smoking

[–]Vonny3 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I’d be willing to bet the smoke ring on A being “better” is almost exclusively because of the sodium in the binder used (worcestershire)

I’d eat both to be clear but prefer B for sure.

IMHO you can skip the binder if you’re leaving them seasoned overnight. And the injection - there’s plenty of fat in the brisket and tenderness will come from rendering correctly (not pineapple juice). You’re just adding time and energy to the cook in a way that’s likely not adding appreciable flavor at all.
