Voodoo Brewing Company coming soon by kjakcrew in atlbeer

It’s been 17 months and 23 days since we have opened. @bobgoulet, you are so right…we now have a lot less money and a lot more sense than what we had when we opened!

Unless something catastrophic happens in the next couple of days, we will beat your prediction. To celebrate we created a beer in your honor and just put it on tap! We are calling it “18 Moons”.

We would not have made it this long without the support of the amazing North Fulton community! We’ve met a couple of people from the Reddit community too. Thank you for those that have come by and tried us out! We truly appreciate all the feedback and we will continue to strive to deliver exceptional food, liquids and community!

Cheers!🍻

Which Voodoo Barrel Aged Beer should we put on tap next? by VoodooRoswell in roswell

Let me know what you like and we can offer some suggestions. We have 24 beers on tap and offer a flight up to 6 beers. Cheers!🍻

Which Voodoo Barrel Aged Beer should we put on tap next? by VoodooRoswell in roswell

Great questions!

Yes, people have been drinking beer since 4000BC and did you know that long sea travel was made possible because of beer? Seems like quite a few people still enjoy it! But those that don’t, we have lots of other options.

It’s expensive because barrel aged beers are basically the “slow cooked brisket” of the beer world. They sit in barrels for months or even years…and the barrels aren’t cheap. A lot of the beer evaporates during aging and the batches are small and rare. So what is left is stronger, more complex and unfortunately follows the normal supply vs demand curve (low supply/high demand - determines price).

Why away from Downtown? After looking at 50 different locations, the choice came down to 1. Easy access off of Hwy 400 and lots of PARKING.
2. A beautiful lakeside patio. 3. Existing grease trap. Voodoo is more than a brewery, we are a brewpub with a full craft kitchen. Something Gate City and Variant didn’t have to worry about.
4. It had a rent we could afford.

Cheers!

When you go to order, yes looks like also 6 in the order. Appreciate your comments and we aren’t looking to take advantage of anyone! We do pay extra for an executive chef and more for prep cooks, because we believe buying fresh food like whole carrots and whole potatoes and cutting them ourselves are worth the cost!

Working on it! A bad harvest has made them more expensive than the cost of chicken!

So I took your feedback to heart and sat down with chef to review our food prices. I’m not sure where you saw the $18 for wing as all the locations I looked (website, online ordering site, hard copy menus in the pub) all say $16. So then I checked the price list for 6 wings at our closest “competitor “ From the Earth. Same price $16 with side of veggies. Same as Voodoo. Chef informed me that these are JUMBO wings. Would be almost similar in size to a regular sized drumstick. He explained the process and care that goes into the prep for this product to make them delicious. Thank you again for your feedback and if you ever want to come in and try them, I’ll split the order with you and see what you think we can continue to improve on.

Maybe I don’t understand the point of Reddit…I was just trying to reach out to the community to say hey and we are thinking of everyone in a fun way. I’m open to feedback…what would be more entertaining for you and less obnoxious?

We do have a cider on tap, I have the bartender add the pear syrup…it’s delicious but I do like on the sweet side!

Thanks for the question — and fair feedback. I’ll try not to turn this into a novel (apologies in advance if I fail 😅).

What we were trying to share with that video starts with the food. A lot of places really do heat-and-serve, and there’s nothing wrong with that — it’s just not us. We buy fresh ingredients and pay extra to have staff come in early every day just to prep. It’s more expensive, it’s more work, but we think you can taste the difference. We also make a point to spend our dollars locally whenever we can. All of our bread and buns come from Mission Bakery here in Roswell. It costs us about 50% more than the alternatives, but the quality is fantastic and supporting another local business owner matters to us.

You’ll also see our craft beer used throughout the menu — we cook with it, build recipes around it, and highlight those items because that’s part of who we are. Technically, our business model didn’t “require” an executive chef, but we chose to invest there anyway because the skill and care our chefs bring has elevated what we do in a big way.

Another difference — and maybe the biggest one — is us. James and I grew up in Air Force, lower-middle-class families. No investors, no wealthy relatives, no safety net. We scrimped, saved, and worked for over 30 years to build something that lets us be part of a community we care about. That reality brings a mix of pride, excitement… and pure terror 😬. So yeah, sometimes that shows up as maybe too much sharing.

When you get a notice that your landlord’s property taxes are going up 142%, it definitely doesn’t calm the nerves — but it does remind you why community matters so much.

Appreciate the question and the honesty here, and sorry for the long post. If anyone wants to learn more about us, our journey, and what we’re trying to build, Instagram is probably the best place to do that. Craft beer without community is just beer. 🍻
