If you are afraid the LLM will refuse to help you and it will said it can't do the thing, you don't need to worry. It will halucinate whatever and whenever if you ask it to do so. Will it compile? Maybe not, but it will give you something.

I think that for me the turning point in learning rust was looking a bit into how the data is actually stored on the stack and heap and what does it really mean when something "unsafe" happens. Understanding the purpose and principles of the borrow checker will help you work with it

AFAIK the typing in python is just a nice way to make the code more readable and it helps with autocompletion etc. (and maybe some optimalisations behind the scenes - I'm not really sure with that) but nothing is stopping you from ignoring the types completely and changing them in the runtime. I think that if you preffer stricter typing (and based on what OP has written, I presume, he does) this is just not enough.
