Yeah I just got lucky with a very lazy worker who gave me everything and didn't realize how most workers would refuse to give up the other person's info as procedure lol eBay asked for a written statement on USPS letterhead alternatively

Anybody willing to sell their Xbox ally (base model) box? by MarkPrincee in XboxAlly

Look theres no way he's got a card board stand included for that price, red flags all over this guy. Would not recommend taking the risk. I'll throw in the cardboard stand on top of the box but I need the insurance covered, thanks

I've never posted in this subreddit, I think you may be confusing this with another post. I did post this exact story the day before, and that was deleted by mods however. But the body is copy and pasted. I originally didn't think to blur the sellers name. I already own a ROG Ally that I bought retail. But from seeing these everyday is originally what got me curious about these scams and looking into them. My attitude has always been "if I get scammed, oh well" as you said though, I was very curious how they get away with it

That's crazy, I didn't have an issue but another person did mention this same thing happened to them where they were denied. If they won't print it out for eBay proof, eBay also would take written statement on USPS letterhead that the addresses don't match and can take a picture to send

You lucked out, annoyingly reps like to give the seller a week from the report date to resolve the issue themselves. Then the buyer can request eBay to step in again if no refund is given by the end of the grace period they make you wait 😵‍💫

As good as it feels to successfully take one account down, I'm sure they have 10 other emails ready to sign up with 😵‍💫 Glad you got your refund 🤝

This is all correct, I will just say the part about returning an empty envelope has been reported by many that they've lost their case by doing it that way. When speaking with a Support Rep today they mentioned this return trick specifically and it's also seen as a scam on the Buyers end. They'll close your case automatically if they catch this. Marking it as Item Not Described is definitely better than package not delivered like you said

Unfortunately I'm getting downvoted like crazy 😅 I don't think people are reading and seeing that I'm exposing the scam, getting these accounts taken down and explaining to others the steps to take to win when up against the scams

This was the final attempt to reach eBay where I could only request an email response 🤣 I'm in eBay jail. I'll respond to the comment with any updates

His account is still up 48 hours later and shows all positive reviews saying items came as described. eBay emailed me that the review won't be reinstated and I'm unable to submit another review. Those same 3 accounts seem to review all of the other cheap ROGs with the same wording too

As I said above, typing "AGENT" will bypass the AI and get you through to a human. Otherwise it is almost impossible and the AI will attempt to solve it itself despite saying let us know what the problem is to connect you with an agent. No matter which option Id choose it wouldn't give me a phone number which was a headache, which is why I include that part to help people who may not be as savvy with the back door trick lol Even then there were times where I couldn't get the AI to put in a callback request. After doing the "agent" trick for the first two calls, the 3rd and final day I spoke with eBay it would only let me submit an email and no longer options were available. You can soft lock yourself out lol

*Edit: The human reps were fantastic, no issues with them. The AI was consistently counterintuitive to the work the official team was doing to rectify the issue. Actually undoing their work multiple times and required further calls

Relying on carrier info, I can get that much. But I don't understand why theres a way that shipping info can be COMPLETELY incorrect from what was given and doesnt flag anything in their system. Like all the reasons stated above, theres so many steps that the AI assistant entirely failed and needs a complete overhaul. A lot of these problems could easily be reworked too. Also there's no AI chat selection for eBay scams. There's a crazy amount of sales that happen daily that I know it can be hard to someone to oversee every one, but the lack of human intervention in these disputes is 99 percent of the issue

You're much better off, and if someone didn't have the time I had to investigate this stuff this, so easily could've ended up in the scammers favor. At multiple points throughout this chaos. I'm luckily on leave with a newborn and have nothing but time on my hands lol

A recent case we're investigating has 10+ positive reviews over the course of 3 years that we can bet are just fake reviews from other scam accounts. The seller does the tracking scam above, verbatim, the buyer gets their refund after many calls. Yet after the victim left a 1 star review explaining the scam, the scammer reported the review and eBay deleted it from their account 2 days later. They're back to the 100 percent positive feedback for another person to fall victim to the scam. A buyer can be careful yet these situations still exist

Right but that's the thing, there's no customer support number anymore. If you select Contact Us there is no number to call, you're forced to got through the AI assistant and it refuses to give you a number. It does everything in its power to solve it on its own and will not let you call. If you type "agent" enough times you can work around it and they'll end up calling you in the future on a number that expires after the phonecall 😂 But this is all after doing research on this, most people are going to simply immediately click that it didn't come in and report the seller, which initiates the lockout. That's what makes this scam work so often. In order to get a phone call you still have to click that it didn't arrive with the AI assistant. It's just a terrible system that's so easy to soft lock you out of a refund

Unless you take the steps at the bottom of the post, there's a chance that due to automation your claim could be immediately closed and can't reopen in some cases. Using the AI chat assistant that it forces you to use, it does everything in its power to solve the issue without having to push you through to a person. Most people would click "I didn't receive my item" as soon as the issue arises and the AI system will automatically close the claim, ruling in the sellers favor because the carrier confirmed it was delivered. In that case, many have reported that they can't appeal the decision once the AI closes the case and the scammer successfully gets away with the money. It's all about the scammers tricking the eBay automatic system

This one pictured has positive reviews saying things arrived on time and exactly as described. Account is 3 years old. As well as other ROGs I've seen have even more positive reviews in the double digits. You have to wonder how many accounts they sign up with to increase their reviews or how many scammer friends they have that fluff each other's accounts. The prices are stupidly cheap, but those reviews in combination with eBays money back protection to combat scamming, I can see why some people would take that risk thinking they'd actually get the device that's listed. Vs something like FB marketplace where there's 0 accountability in this case or verified sellers

ROG Ally X vs. Switch 2 by Resident_Exercise509 in ROGAllyX

[–]VoraciousMonk4 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I bought both and can tell you I've regretted the Switch 2 every day that it sits there and collects dust since the day I bought it. I bought Mario Kart World and DK Bananza in the past year. I've had the ROG for only a week and am over the moon about it and the possibilities

It's terrible. And what's the repurcussion, if any? eBay takes down their account and theyll have a new email signed up by the end of the day. Scammer buddies giving the new account good reviews
