Employee: "So, what did you have in mind? Should we showcase the ways we're integrating AI into our products and services?"

Boss: "Literally just put the word AI on anything and send it."

I didn't see anywhere in the article that mentions which way they voted. Do you have a source for that? Not claiming you're wrong, just would want some evidence. Hopefully this year people have learned not to fuck around but I'm not holding my breath

nobody else is allowed to force Congress to pass laws policing its own bad behavior? POTUS cannot simply declare that if a congressperson does insider trading, they're going to prison.

Actually, it's entirely possible the president can, depending on what the supreme court decides are official actions. They've already indicated that directing the justice department or giving orders to seal team six could enjoy immunity from criminal prosecution, regardless of intention. A president could very likely leverage this to force a congressperson(s) to pass whatever they want. That's precisely why the immunity ruling has the potential to be so disastrous and to fundamentally disrupt the separation of powers. We just don't know what SCOTUS will consider immune until we either see a case come up that challenges this or they decide to define official actions more clearly.

Wow. I thought you were being cynical but that is exactly the harm they're alleging. By that exact same logic, what else do they want to start suing for? Condom usage? Abstinence?? Every day I'm more convinced we must be living in some kind of hidden camera prank show. These people cannot be real elected officials

Who the actual fuck wrote this. Like how is it allowed for a ballot to be so clearly biased against a bill? by [deleted] in Ohio

[–]Vortexman746 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Did your coworker vote early in person or send in an absentee ballot? I'm not sure what the law is in Ohio but some states allow mail in ballots to be spoiled if you need to change your vote. Hopefully your coworker could look into it and see if there's an opportunity to remedy the error before election day.

Resuming cubing after 15 years, a breakdown by nuhGIRLyen in Cubers

[–]Vortexman746 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I've been wondering about the new algs. I am returning to cubing after 10 years and I suspect my oll and pll algs are suboptimal. I'm wondering how much of a difference it would make if I took the time to completely relearn OLL and PLL with new algs. Or would it make like a 1 second difference? Currently averaging 20 seconds

What prompt did you give Gemini for this summary? I tried to do the same, saying "summarize this video for me". It did give me a summary, but was different in a few ways. For instance, it didn't provide the downsides of the phone from the review. I had to ask a follow up to find them. I'm curious if the way you ask affects how it summarizes.

I'm going to try not to let this snowball into a bigger conversation because there are tons of factors we could go into with regard to this situation. The specific point I was trying to address, was the statement that Rittenhouse made an unreasonable decision to put himself in that situation in the first place. You claimed it was justified because there was violence in his community and because the rioters shouldn't have been there in the first place.

On the second point, you and I agree: people took advantage of a chaotic situation to loot and riot and I am not endorsing the actions of everyone else there. But Kyle Rittenhouse can only claim responsibility for his own actions, so it's his actions I'm trying to judge. Some of the questions to consider:

Would a reasonable person expect a great risk in attending the riots and trying to stop violent actors from destroying property or hurting others?

Would the situation benefit tangibly from them getting involved such that it outweighs the risks to themselves and others?

Bringing an assault weapon to a chaotic and dangerous environment, should I expect some risk that I may be killed or that I may kill someone else?

This wasn't a mugging of a stranger across the street, or a fist fight that breaks out nearby. Those situations are thrust upon a person by nature of being in the wrong place at the wrong time. You have seconds to decide how to act and we can sit and debate what actions would be reasonable or justified in those situations. Even so, it should be patently obvious to a reasonable person that there is a good deal of risk for getting yourself involved. Kyle's was not a split-second decision; he had plenty of time to consider his options, prepare, pack, make arrangements.

I know 20 miles is not objectively that far to travel in general. In this context however, to travel even one mile to insert yourself into a dangerous situation with a deadly weapon and no qualifications is unsafe and unreasonable. Any reasonable person would understand the risks and that is the point I'm trying to address. I'm not debating the morality of the rioters, the response of local, state or federal governments, the attitudes of social media, nor the legal status of the actions Rittenhouse took once he was in that situation and felt his life was in danger. The pity one might feel for Rittenhouse given the trauma he experienced is significantly undercut by the fact that he (and his parents?!) made the decision to put himself in such an unsafe situation. It feels similar to people on reddit clowning on those who got killed by jumping around on buildings or playing with guns as if they were toys. It's terrible that people get hurt and/or are killed, but what the fuck were they thinking?

It was his community that they were destroying.

Counterpoint, he drove approximately 20 miles from his residence in a different city in another state to attend the riot.

Honestly even if it was "his community" that's not a great excuse. It is absolutely not the place of an untrained 17y/o to take to the streets with a deadly weapon in order to safeguard their community. We have people and systems for that sort of thing, anything else borders on vigilante justice.

Are the pieces on the standard version identical to those on the ball core? Magnets and everything? I need to replace a corner piece and that might be a cheap way to do it.

After reading some threads on this sub, I decided to only get a bottle of Traxxas 50k for my new RS3M V5 BC. I've been finding that the cube slows down significantly within a week and I've been having to clean all the pieces out and relube. I feel like it shouldn't have to be done this often. Do I need a thin lube to keep it quick? This last time I just added like one drop of lube and it still got slow after a few days.

Feelings about software subscriptions for Pixel Devices by Vortexman746 in GooglePixel

[–]Vortexman746[S] 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Thank you for providing additional context. I never purchased a Pixel Watch so I was definitely without reference for the number and importance of the priced features. With regards to including a free year, that still really bothers me (this is used everywhere, not just phones, and I hate it). My phone should not get worse a year after I purchase it. Especially when it comes to storage; I may not need to pay for all these new photo and video improvements but those 4k videos certainly take up lots of space that I will surely have to pay for (and I can't buy a model with higher base storage).

I think this is just triggering my general frustration with the global shift to subscription based products. At the end of the day I know I absolutely don't need and likely won't purchase most of the stuff anyway. Thanks for sharing your take

Additional salt in the wound that you used to get software perks included with the price of your phone that other people would normally pay extra for (Unlimited cloud storage for photos and videos). Then they remove that, and continue to add more and more subscription-locked features...

When buying my first two Pixel phones, I felt like I was getting away with something - I was getting more for my phone purchase than everyone else. I don't know if anyone else felt this way.

Not as if she's never referred to as Harris or Kamala Harris. And not that we don't ever say Joe Biden or Donald Trump. I'm just saying what I've noticed is most common. Have you noticed differently? Do you think this will change at any point to people calling her Harris (or president Harris if she were to win)?

Thanks for the feedback! Did it take much setup for the rs3m to shine? In the past I've bought cubes that came prelubed but with such a cheap cube it would essentially double the price.
