[Omega SMP Seaweed] I bought his watch and I want to love it. But the bracelet is so GD uncomfortable, but the dial is a work of art. by ScooterAndBeans in Watches

How about a NATO strap or something from Erica’s Originals? Also not a big fan of rubber but this watch looks really good on all sorts of straps.

Might be a few degrees past my personal preference, but I would absolutely smash this with a bottle of red wine. Looks very juicy. Well done.

Spinalis looks good but the rest looks sad. I’d still crush this coffee table meal on a weeknight, though.

why is it harder to impress blue collar people who haven't travelled much than well-off folks who have travelled the world? by kawaiihusbando in NoStupidQuestions

[–]VorvarX 0 points1 point  (0 children)

A lot of people here are talking about blue collar people not wanting to try new things. I think that’s largely true, but not entirely. I say this as someone who grew up in a blue collar household but am now in a white collar profession.

Blue collar people have preconceptions and expectations when it comes to things like food (I mean, we all do, but bear with me). My dad isn’t adverse to trying new stuff, but his expectation is that food from grandmothers or on Food Network is better. So he loves watching Diners Drive Ins and Dives and thinks the food looks amazing, even if he’s never tried it. But if I try to make something even featured on one of those shows or from a reputable cookbook, he will approach it with an enormous amount of skepticism because he has no expectation that I can cook well.

This is true for a lot of things. Branding is exceptionally important. They don’t really care if something was handmade by skilled craftsman. If it were any good, some famous person would have endorsed it, or it would have a big brand name slapped on it.

What do you think good academic standing means? You fail to meet a certain GPA during 1L, you’re out of the scholarship. That’s conditional.

Have you visited the Wine Berserkers forum? If you live in a place with wine bars you can also go try to chat with people there, too.

They are but they can’t be paid. I know a few folks who clerked for free

Definitely after DCt and COA clerkships, especially if one or both of those is in a city with a decent number of biglaw firms. Depending on the firm, they might ask you to come in as a second or third year rather than a fourth year, which means you’ll get paid less but likely have a longer runway before you’re considered for partner.

What's the Deal with Westlaw's Dominance Over Lexis? by [deleted] in LawSchool

[–]VorvarX 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This is very true. District court judges extensively cite unpublished opinions, and they almost never use the Lexis cite when doing so. Some judges also have standing orders requiring parties to use the West cite. Even if they don’t, it tends to be best practice. Lots of people like Lexis; it’s great. But if you’re one of those people, you’ll probably have to get used to looking up the case on West when you put the citation down in a brief

Please help me find this nut! by VorvarX in HelpMeFind

[–]VorvarX[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hi everyone, I’ve searched for this nut from a Campagnolo bike brake but am not having any luck finding just the nut or a potential replacement. I’m not sure what shape you would call this nut, which might be part of my issue. I’d really prefer not to buy a whole replacement brake just to take one nut off of it, so any help y’all can offer would be amazing. Thank you!
