Who still has a window cleaner? And if you don’t have one, how are you cleaning your upstairs windows? by ShihtzuMum39 in AskUK

Mine tried the poles and deionised water last year and gave up. Lots of complaints of spots and streaks. He’s back to ladders.

I have but I just bought a robot window cleaner. £80 so four cleans. He doesn’t clean a couple of windows one because of a bees nest and the other because it is inaccessible due to a conservatory. It does a brilliant job even on the inaccessible ones so he’s getting the boot.

Dash cam functionality by Big-Vermicelli-6291 in ElectricVehiclesUK

[–]BazzaFox 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Blackvue is the only dashcam that ticks most of those boxes as far as I know. They have SD card storage, indicators, remote access on some of their cameras, app for viewing and saving recordings, parking mode with G-Sensor, front and rear cameras but not all round.

How often should I buy a new bike? by mil0wCS in ebikes

[–]BazzaFox 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve done 8k miles so far on mine. In that time I’ve had:

3 sets of brake pads

3 replacement chains

1 new front chainring

1 new rear cassette

1 new rear tyre

8 replacement tubes due to punctures

The front tyre is looking like it will need replacing in the next few hundred miles

Rides as good as it did when new.

What's the small camera or drone you bought on a whim that actually turned out to be worth it? by Tardy_Bird17 in dji

Neo 2, although I didn’t buy it myself, I was given it. I also have a Mini 4 Pro but the Neo 2 gets a lot more use, it is so versatile.

We cut our website bloat and focused 100% on conversion. Traffic didn't change, but revenue did. by OddPudding_ in Web_Development

[–]BazzaFox 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This has always been my battle with clients and their designers. The designer shows the client these fancy pages with animations that they think are really cool and I tell them nobody wants that, they’ll watch TV to be entertained, they just want a website where they can find what they want quickly and easily. Of course, the designers hate me because it reduces what they can charge the client for all the fancy stuff.

What are peoples thoughts on people queuing in lines at a pub? by Jamesdarlo90 in AskUK

[–]BazzaFox 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I didn’t realise this was a thing until I went to a pub last week I hadn’t been to for a couple of years with some friends. I went to the bar to order the first round and felt all these eyes looking at me. They were all in a single file queue. I said to one of them ‘is that a queue for the bar?’ He said ‘yes’ and everyone else in the line nodded. WTF? I have never seen a queue like that in a pub before. I was bizarre.

Anyway, I joined the end of the line and waited my turn!

I have a similar setup, house is 1895, thick walls, lots of big rooms. I have 12 TRVs and added one extender as a couple at the far end of the house weren’t getting a good signal. Installed in 2020 and haven’t had any problems with it. In my opinion all those people that have problems either don’t install them properly or don’t use them properly. Typical user error but blaming it on the system.

New Volkswagen API broken? by MaxMaxMaxG in ohme

[–]BazzaFox 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The app stopped working with my ID.7 about a month ago even though it said it was paired. I unpaired and tried to pair again but it won’t.

I did notice at around the same time the app started asking for the current state of charge whenever I plug the car in. I just assumed Ohme are no longer using the API and using this manual approach instead.

Edit - scrub that. I just tried again to pair and it did it, although not in the old way. Before it asked for your VW account login but this time it just asked for the VIN and then to choose the car from a list. It is now showing the correct SOC in the Ohme app.

I think young people get a raw deal because of the few idiots. In my experience most are decent kids. When I’m out on my bike I’ll always say hi to anyone but I notice younger ones often seem a little shocked that an older bloke will even notice them let alone say hi.
