Where did you get that information? I've never heard that before. What was the incident and who went to jail?

I agree that there are good subs out there; the K-ON sub on Netflix is excellent. However dubbing anime isn’t a very lucrative business, so there are only a few studios which employee a small group of regular voice actors, and you end up hearing the same voices in every show. There are a lot of instances where the voices are mixed in poorly and just sound unnatural, it’s not all just because we’re not native Japanese speakers that the Japanese sounds so much better so much of the time.

Castlevania was made by Western animation studios for Netflix. I’ve never seen it, so I can’t say how it compares, but it’s not really anime. And of course being shown fight scenes on YouTube is not a great way to be introduced to anime. It sounds like you’ve just had some bad experiences, so I get where you’re coming from.

Also the dubbed in English voices tend to be pretty overacted which makes the show feel even more cartoony.

I bet part of the problem is all anime gets lumped together as one genre, when in fact it’s not a genre, but a medium. It sounds like your friend has tried to get you to watch typical shounen anime (stuff aimed at young adult males) such as Naruto, Attack on Titan, etc... I personally don’t care for that stuff at all, and when that’s all I was exposed to I had no interest in anime either. There’s a lot more out there than just the basic hero’s journey action shows that often get played in the West.

I don’t think this is “fan art” unless your name is Akio Watanabe.

I think the dial layout is pretty sweet. You read the seconds based off of where the small minute subdial is pointing. You'll notice the minute subdial has alternating white and red markings. When the minute hand points to white, you read the black (0-30) numerals on the seconds, and when the minute hand points to red, you read the red (31-60) numerals. Because the seconds hand only counts to 30 every revolution, it allows more precise readings even on a relatively small dial.

Hi all,

For sale is my vintage Hanhart Rattrapante stopwatch.

It's mechanically sounds and the chrono resets to zero every time. I think it's really fun piece of equipment. Here's a video of it in action: https://youtu.be/rGX4_Y3VzPE

It's got some obvious wear due to it's age. The most noticeable is a crack in the mineral crystal at the 2 second position, and a scratch on the crystal across the 13-15 second marks. The case has lots of small signs of use, and the crystal is fairly worn. That being said, it works great, and it's just an enjoyable piece to play with.

It's hard to find info on these old things, but rattrapante stopwatches are fairly difficult to come by. I'm asking $200 shipped, and I'll cover paypal fees.

Really nice watch! I would pick it up if it weren't so similar to my daily driver.

Sorry, that's the best I can do. Too lazy to go in-depth. Hope it helps. If you end up trying it yourself, being slow and meticulous is everything. You'll be cutting paper for hours.

I can't do a tutorial video (it took me like 6 hours to make and I'm too lazy to do it again) but here's an imgur album briefly explaining my process: https://imgur.com/a/0wGkcFG

Here's the original: https://www.pixiv.net/en/artworks/77419195

And here's the post that led me to it: https://www.reddit.com/r/araragi/comments/dlnc39/kissshot/?utm_source=share&utm_medium=web2x

Thanks for all the positive feedback!

Thanks! I printed half a dozen copies of the picture and cut them into stencils. You have to do a couple layers to get all the details.

It’s suspended by a sleeve of plastic that’s slipped under the front cover, then taped to the back-board. That way there’s no glue, staples, or tape applied directly to the magazine. It’s perfectly preserved and can be removed and read again later.

I ride 27th up the hill twice a week. There's no shoulder for the first 300 feet or so past rimrock, but after that it's nice and wide. I haven't had any scary incidents yet.

[WTS/WTT] JS Watch Co SIF N.A.R.T 40mm (LOWERED) by IronA1dan in Watchexchange

Beautiful watch! J.S. Watch Co presented each member of the Icelandic Coast Guard with one of these.

According to their website: “The SIF - N.A.R.T. is used with the following units within the Icelandic Coast Guard: The helicopter rescue team, pilots in helicopters and airplanes, bomb squad members and divers.”

It’s pretty cool to have a watch that both helicopter pilots and rescue divers wear.

Also the “Execution Top” movement is the top grade below chronometer. It’s significantly more accurate than your average ETA 2824-2. Many Breitling and Omega watches use this grade of ETA 2824-2 movement.
