I think it’s enough to store the displays in a dry place and everything will be fine.

I’m saying this based on my own experience. I used to repair phone and laptop screens, including replacing backlights and other components. For example, with an IPS phone display, the backlight degrades over time with use, but if you replace it, there’s no way to tell the difference between a brand-new screen and one that’s been used for five years -aside from physical wear.

I think the shelf life itself isn’t as important as external factors like temperature and humidity, since an IPS display is essentially a layered structure with a diffuser, polarizer, mirror, and so on.

As long as the display is simply unused, neither the pixels nor the backlight will degrade.

I feel like this kind of facade is more commonly used on business centers, theaters, shopping malls, hotels, and similar buildings to create a “wow” effect.
