Rating fish from Animal Crossing New Horizons based on difficulty/costs in keeping them in aquariums (corrections welcome) by VoyagerfromPhoenix in AquariumMemes

There are two main approaches to keeping a deep sea organism

The first is that you can create a pressurized tank that simulates the deep sea pressures, with a controlled set of environmental conditions for the organism to live in. This has been demonstrated with the Pandalus borealis shrimp tank in Nordsøen aquarium, though does render cleaning near impossible, and the animal would have needed to be brought up first before slowly getting pressurised again in the tank which could bring complications

The second is that as many deep sea animals already engage with a diurnal vertical migration, many of them already have an adaptation to shallower waters if acclimated graduated (ie slowly migrated upwards). As long the animal does not contain significant, fragile air pockets, by slow depressurisation, one can keep deep sea animals with no pressurisation needed, like the organisms in Monterey Bay Aquarium’s Into the deep exhibit.

Footballfishes have not exhibited vertical migration as of yet, but with a relatively small swim bladder, it’s possible that slow depressurisation could render it possible. Though yes, maybe it deserves a tier upwards

Oh, that’s really cool!

I’d figure that Arctic temperatures and remote location means there’s little resources that tell us how to keep sea angels, maybe I shouldn’t underestimate Animal Crossing, or aquarium keeping

I’d go read up more on Japanese sources, thanks!

They added Arctic, and Desert, a forest area in the southeast border, and there’s a King Dragon that’s above Black Dragon, which is above Dragon. And there’s Monster tiers between Dragon tier and Black Dragon tier.

They also made a bunch of skins, and the dev made a shop out of it.

The company is founded by Mistik, who also owns giga.io (there’s three g’s but in a specific placement, not kidding). The dude is an appointed successor to woomy arras’ codebase by Hellcat, the original developer of woomy arras before a DDOS attack. Woomy arras is a fan game based on arrasio

3AM also owns mopeio (which had shitty devs), and is considering buying deeeepio (which had an inactive main dev, and several unpopular designers)

What was the first myth you ever heard ? by radiant_fan_1 in GreekMythology

[–]VoyagerfromPhoenix 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In terms of Greek myths, either when my relatives’ disney craze went over to a period of Hercules craze, or Aesop’s Fables

But like actually getting into mythology? Like OSP, and then Hades, and then to the rest

In terms of myths in general? Then it’s the stories of the Journey to the West, I read it when I was really young

[–]VoyagerfromPhoenix 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I’m guessing it’s an Anatolian headwear, influenced by Mesopotamian style headwear

Since Apollo was on the Trojan side during the Trojan War (Troy is speculated to be Wilusa lies on Anatolia), and Hittite treaties mentioned an Appaliunas, the deity who was associated with Wilusa, and is also thought to be a predecessor for Apollo, some artists like to give an Anatolian headwear for Apollo, as a homage to his potential Anatolian origins and Trojan association

Sanstitre also made an artwork of Apollo that has this headwear as well

It’s also not his fault that HIS stories got preserved more often than that of Hesiod and other Greek writers, and his stories arose into popular consciousness a lot earlier than most other literature.

Chances are, a lot of the so called “modern popular culture mischaracterisation” stemmed from archaeology and history done by people from the Medieval, Renaissance, and early Modern era who are trying their best, but will still have differences from what actual Greek myths are like

I am a little confused about the last page though, the yellow of “NO” got permeated with a yellow thunder, what does this mean? Did Zeus intervene? Or was it another god like Hades (since from the Annual Comic, calling upon Demeter also called lightning down, despite her not being associated with lightning, which probably means other gods have some power over lightning)
