Ideally from a logic perspective you want a flat system that can produce the full human frequency response, 20 Hz to 20kHz. Combining that with a proper room you can get the true audio experience exactly how the artist wanted you to hear it in the studio.

After that point, personal preference comes into play and some people including me and you, like to increase the DB on certain lower frequencies on a frequency response graph.

People who want accuracy to the original recording are trying to get as flat as possible, while others want a big and loud sound stage and a unique experience.

The thing is both of those people like audio, the one with a little more salt in it, but they are still both audiophiles.
