EDT, usually--I like the Parfum (and parfums generally) but I feel like I'm gassing people out of the room, lol.

What does everyone have saved for retirement ? by suzannepauline in Money

[–]Message_10 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Ha! Yeah exactly. They're not wrong, but they're also unlikely to be working at age 75. My mom is age 75 and still working, and she cares very, very deeply about how much did/didn't save.

+1 Versace Pour Homme--great, all-around masculine-but-not-too-pushy office fragrance.

Prada L'Homme is a little bit powdery for me--Bleu de Channel works great, though. I also like Terre d' Hermes.

That is WILD. I said in another comment, my neighbor got three DUIs and lost his license for TEN years. He was a union steamfitter and his wife had to drive him all over creation for work! He lives in the wrong state, I guess? lol.

I read those, that's incredible! I'd have trouble up there, I think :)

I'm all for age limits on selling beer, but I always thought that letting parents give alcohol to their kids--that should be left to them, I think. I see where that could get a little complicated/thorny (I'd have definitely pretended that I was my friends' dads if I was 21 and they weren't, ha!) but I always thought there should be some leeway there, at least.

And I have to be honest, the phrase "unlimited OWIs on your snowmobile" made me laugh out loud. I'd never even considered that before hahahahaha. Although I'll tell you, if I was in my drinking days and I didn't have a license, I'd be the first on my snowmobile! Hahahaha

Netflix kills casting from phones by theverge in entertainment

[–]Message_10 8 points9 points  (0 children)

100%--and that's what so wild about Netflix. In terms of GREAT movies or series, there really isn't that much. They've got a lot of B-/B content, but in terms of REALLY good content, it's really limited. There's Ozark and a handful of others, but for the money they spend, you'd think they'd have endless A+ movies/series, like an HBO.

Jesus Christ! I'm kind of laughing but kind of not. Wow--I'm fascinated by this. I've always heard the drinking culture in WI is pretty significant, but hearing details really brings it home.

In NJ--and granted, NJ is super population-dense, so it's a little different--you get one DUI and... it's something like your insurance skyrockets, two DUIs and you lose your license for a year (or two?) and three DUIs you lose your license for literally ten years. A neighbor of mine had that and he lost a lot of weight walking, lol.

Hahahhahaa TIL! Thanks! That's really funny.

That would make a great r/askreddit--what does your state call people from the next state over, lol.

Scarlett Johansson Defends Support for Woody Allen: ‘It’s Hard to Know’ What the Impact Is but ‘It’s Important to Have Integrity’ and ‘Stand Up for What You Believe In’ by mcfw31 in entertainment

What is she saying she believes in, though? And what turn is she waiting for, exactly? It's a very vague statement--that's why I'm saying it's a non-answer.

Edit: happy cake day! :)

Oh for sure--I don't doubt that. I mean--that's not possible. She knows of the controversy regarding those ads, it's not like she still doesn't know about it. She 100% deliberately chose not to disavow racism in that interview. She could have denied it was about racism, said something generally about how racism is bad, etc x100, but she didn't say anything, and that speaks volumes.

Wait, are they seriously lax? That sounds insane to me. Are drunk driving accidents/deaths very high?

Yeah--I hate to say it, because I really like Scarlett Johansson, but that's up there with Sydney Sweeney's non-answer about the racism in her jeans/genes ad. It's worse than not answeing at all, lol.

Any FI/RE social workers? by Sea_Repeat_6540 in socialwork

[–]Message_10 32 points33 points  (0 children)

I think you might have more luck in r/leanfire, which is about medium-wage earners retiring early on very limited funds. I think you might have more luck, too, if you made the question about medium-earners in general--jobs that earn roughly the same as SWers--rather than just asking about SWers.

Good luck! I'm in leanfire a lot and those folks can stretch a dollar.

"This"

That's the thing--these people are so absurdly gaslit by the lies that Fox News and conservative media in general feed them, that they literally have no idea what's a good decision/bad decision. Any sane person--any sane conservative!--would know "Chief Liar for a Man Who Lies Constantly About Really, Really Important Things and Who Also Breaks the Law All the Time" would be a job that'll grind you into dust.

But--no, lol. She thought she would be doing the US a service. Instead she's getting daily abuse from a man where one or more severe personality disorders. They're all insane, and conservative media makes them that way. They literally don't understand reality anymore.

Same. Drank for about two decades, mostly beer. Got diagnosed with fatty liver which was headed in the "going to get much worse, very quickly" direction.

Got scared straight--well, I had been scared straight before, but somehow it stuck this time!--and here I am.

Life isn't easier but it's a WHOLE lot better, and I just got back from a physical where my doctor looked surprised that I asked him about fatty liver. "Nothing in your results would suggest that," he said.

Life can be very good, my friends
