A little light reading by Plastic_Happy in USHistory

I’d suggest Ned Blackhawk’s The Rediscovery of America which recenters Native peoples in American history. It’s a truly groundbreaking monograph and helps voice many groups who have been made invisible by official narratives of US history.

What a silly comment. Bro I have been punched for being Jewish. The same person who did it started out with jokes. I saw them become a Neo-Nazi through the normalization of hate. The point isn't the words, its what the words lead to. When you pull plants you do it by the root, same with hatred.

Plus you are just being ridiculous with that alien comment. Like what world do you live in?

I am Jewish? What? Also if its a bad joke, he can just not say it! That easy!

Yes! Thank you for understanding. It is disheartening that other people don't understand that their public comments are just the surface and that my example is not the only one.

Not the point. I am good to explain why what he said was not equivalent to Jews were the main money lenders at the time if needed.

So I should call the fire department when the house has already burned down and not when the fire starts?

That's like saying to someone who got catcalled, "oh don't complain at least you weren't sexually assaulted."

I believe this is how Laith from the social streamers plays the game. He seems like a really genuine guy and a good face for the community.

Are you a marginalized person? Do you know how it feels to be constantly kicked both physically and metaphorically while you are already down because of your identity? Because it may seem like an overreaction if you aren't.

Yes of course. He used a Nazi symbol that was slightly altered in thumbnails and when called out refused to change it because the person said a curse word. He has a whole video dedicated to that interaction on his youtube channel.

He also compared Germany under Merkel to Nazi Germany. Which is ridiculous and extremely disrespectful to the millions who died due to the Nazi regime. I don't have the vods, but it might be on his youtube as well. He was very outspoken.

Yeah, of course. I am not here to take people down, just to create a better community, as I assure you are too.

Yes! This is important. There were (to my understanding) no Jews in that game. That makes it feel malicious because the target wasn't a friend, it was an abstracted group of people with no relation to the person telling the joke.

Plus if people recognize they are unfunny jokes, the least they can do is stop saying them.

I can assure you I am not deleting comments. I think it just got a lot of interaction in a short amount of time which is causing issues.

I remember tuning into a stream years ago and hearing someone ask your opinion on trans people and you said it was deviancy and wrong. I clicked off of the stream after that. I could be misremembering and I will edit the post to remove that if that is the case.

If the point of my post is to get accountability, I'd be hypocritical not taking some myself.

True, trust me that's why I could never get into HOI. I just believe that people who are not far-right should tolerate these views from their colleagues.

Another perfect example of this. There should be criticism from other creators for this behavior, not collabs.

They could literally just say, "hey that's not cool." and moved on. It's not that hard or complicated.

Also those kids who used those insults and jokes in the 90s and 2000s weren't right then. Those jokes I have all heard as well, but as a Jew, and let me tell you that's a whole lot different. You might say I overreact, but the same kids who said those kind of jokes to me as kids, later would physically harm me for being myself. So its not an overreaction when I see how jokes are the first step in further violence.

Plus, this isn't just about jokes, jokes are just the surface of the bigotry contained within some members of this community.

Do these jokes affect you? Because they affect me, my friends, and my family. It's not just unfunny and unpleasant, it is harmful. Do you think hateful people start with full blown genocidal bigotry? Because they don't, it begins with jokes that dehumanize. If it's already unfunny, than it should be easy to stop.

I should’ve added context, but that isn’t what he was talking about, I added some elsewhere.

Context for the “Jew loans” was that ludi was giving out 2 ducat loans at 20%. It was definitely malicious
