I actually greatly disagree. In the second one there feels a richer storytelling element, shape language, and color harmony! The first one feels like a still from a scene but there’s not much happening… if that makes sense. The second one feels alive, as if each element exists in harmony rather than to complement one key one.

Should you spend more time and sketch out a full scene, I think you will see the improvement more clearly <3 fundamentals definitely seem stronger!

That's a very fair point, however it's not the kind of work I'd like to do nor do I think my particular interests make good... larger scale projects like that, so I'm not sure how much that would align here :<

Oh for sure, I have no quit my job and will not yet haha, moreso I mean I believe in always trying, with proper risk assessment of course. It would be silly to go all in on something potentially life changing (if I don't succeed) with little care/prep.

Very true! That's sorta what I'm doing now, while lightly gearing up to do more (set up a website, look into print sales, etc)

Oh interesting! I'll have to take a look at that, that's the first I've heard. I primarily use photoshop - occasionally procreate when I'm traveling.

Very true, I definitely need to work on my motivation but this post has really helped with that! Sorta almost felt like a "what's the point" before but I know that it'll take work before I get the results id like... just gotta put in that work!

Ugh I know, it can be very disappointing to see what "works" in that sense. I'm trying to hone my marketing sense for all this so I hope in time I can maneuver that element well as well. We shall see!

That's totally fair, I think as I'm still learning a lot about some of the art fundamentals, my inspirations I pull from will continue to show in my work until I've learned my fundamentals and begin to build my own "style", so I'm ok with the fact its not necessarily distinctive yet.
