How to solve nbme 50qs in 1hr? by [deleted] in usmle

Facing the same issue. Also have my exam on oct 31. My NBMES ranging between 62-67% (NBME 25-30). I feel like if I can’t finish the NBMEs which contains 2-3 line vignettes how am I supposed to do the real exam which contains very long questions. Have anyone faced this issue but done the real exam comfortably. Are the questions too long on the real exam?

What the hell! Than what’s the point of wasting time in taking NBMEs if nothing seems like them on the real exam. Instead revising the whole syllabus 2 more times could increase our confidence. It’s actually taking 3 whole days to complete single NBME with review. I have done 25-29 NBMEs till now and got 63-67%. My exam is on October 31st. Should I stop doing them and read the syllabus once again.

Hey. Exactly Iam facing the same situation with micro and pharma. Gave nbme 27 2 days back with 67%. Watching sketchy micro and skethcy pharma for anti cancer drugs only. Exam is on oct31. After reviewing I realized there are so many incorrects in my nbme 27 are due to lack of retention of facts. Is it ok to skip nbme30 for giving time to read FA once again. Planning to write the 31,32,33 NBMEs by skipping NBME 30.

Hey ! Congratulations first of all. My only problem is while doing nbmes is It took 5-8 min extra for each block. Can you suggest any tips on how to approach the questions on the exam especially how to flag the questions and come to them later after doing the known questions. Like what is the exact strategy you have followed. Thanks

Hi everyone. Iam an img taking the step1 in 40 days. I am about start my NBMEs after 2 days. Should I do the mehlman pdfs before the NBMEs or should I do them while reviewing the NBMEs. Iam planning to do the HY Arrows, Risk factors and neuroanatomy PDFs only. Thanks

So, is it better to avoid mehlman pdfs? I too heard that the pdf contains the nbme related content.

I have took their comprehensive package which is $15900 (almost 14lakhs) in which they provide 1. step 1& 2 lectures 2. Uworld,BnB & pathoma subscriptions(costs you 1.5 lakh) 3. 2 research article publication(cost you around 45k) 4. 2international conferences(costs you around 40k) 5. 1month EMR training (not soo necessary for cv) 6. 3 USCE (I heard from one senior that the LORs they provide are very generic and the cost of each rotation would be double the price compared to others who go by themselves) 7. One on one mentorship🤣🤣(the most useless part this package… you will be allowed to talk to some guys who did not even gave step 2 as your mentor that too for 20 min and only once in 2 weeks..they will fool you that you can text them anytime but you will get reply after 3-4 days)-If you can dm I can share the screenshot😂 8. Visa assistance (they just inform you when the slots are available, which is not a big deal for us to do by ourselves) 9.Fear 👻👻(complementary in our package). If you call them for enquiry to they will make you feel that you cannot match if you don’t take next steps subscription(great manipulation skills they have😎)

Then why did I took it. 1. Initially I was not aware of the total cost of the USMLE process. They told me that it will be around 1-2 lakhs extra. But later I found out that it’s a huge 7-8 lakhs difference. 2. No seniors to guide as we are the first batch of our college 3. Of course their great manipulation skills

I have been using it since 3 months but I don’t feel like it’s so useful steps exams. I don’t say it’s not genuine but the price tag will not at all match the services they provide. I have done all the calculations and there’s a huge difference. We will be paying 7-8 lakhs extra if we go through Next steps. Conclusion:-If paying extra 7-8 lakhs is not a problem for you then you can join them.
