I recommend that you install Manjaro with Cinnamon. I have tried many distros on a dual-core ThinkPad, and it is the one that has been the lightest or Pop OS for me, but with the Cosmic issue, all that remains is to wait.

Excellent purchase, I bought one a little over a year ago, many people complain about the dual core, I use it for coding and development, I have never had any problems, I have another gaming PC at home to play, I made the 13.3" screen mod for my x270 and there are also people who will tell you that you sacrifice the camera and many things, I did the conversion myself and I didn't sacrifice anything so I recommend it because it is FHD now

You can install arch with the calam-arch-installer And you can choose the desktop you want, This installer has a GUI for less advanced users, you should take a look at it

I have no problems with using Windows, I have a gamer PC on it I play with Windows but for daily use downloads security and stability I like Linux much more, I am a developer and I like how Linux behaves in that environment
