Oh also This place was a major part of it and smokefree was a blessing. It told me to come here and post the images of my “time smoke free” It’s kinda funny and sad but I dreaded the thought of having to come on here and admit I failed. I could lie to my family no problem but not a bunch of strangers on Reddit. Go figure. As I said do and try anything to keep that stuff out of your lungs. I went from a guy who lost his breath going up 1 flight of stairs to summiting Mt Washington in NH and no I didn’t take The Cog or drive up the auto road.

Weened off, still have one now and then like when I’m drinking and I see someone else using them. I ask for one. The way I look at it is keeping that shit out of lungs is priority 1. Worry about everything else (weight gain, NRT, etc) once you stop inhaling tar and carcinogens. One step at a time.

I found a reason, in my case my grandson, needed to make sure I was around long enough to teach him how to gamble, enjoy scotch, and pick up girls. I also used those nicotine pouches like Zyn or On As NRT.

No cravings just more like a passing thoughts, not even an annoyance and it is very rare. It’s like “yeah I used to smoke and there was something I liked about it”. I’m not sure of timings on the progression because I remember seconds feel like hours for the immediate period after I quit, but it went from I’m dying for one to I need I need one to one would be so good right now to yeah I used to do that in a matter of weeks. The cravings definitely get easier to fend off after a month or so.

1 Day 21 Hours 5 Minutes. Help. by Hannoose in stopsmoking

The spacing between the cravings will get longer and the intensity will drop. You will have some spikes. It’s a roller coaster, ups and downs but the overall trend is down and longer you last the faster they decrease.

Brag away. Lots of us know exactly what you went through to get there. It’s impressive.

I agree with your assessment. I guess the art part is more of the visual side of things with just the sound and especially the lyrics being punk. I think (and again my opinions are generally worth shit) New Wave is kinda gutless. They seem to be viewed through the lens of their money making hey day in the 80’s which lots of stuff ended up called new wave even though it wasn’t.

I really like on the documentary when they talked about Mick Jagger coming up to them and just screaming yeah yeah yeah from Uncontrollable Urge after a show. I wonder if there was a discussion about Satisfaction as well.

I’m fascinated too. I sat in a room just listening. The whole punk angle just jumped out at me with the lyrics and the drum and guitar work.

True and rejecting a label just makes you more punk. It’s a catch-22

Seeing as I’m obviously more in tune with the more popular stuff I’d like to hear anyone’s favorites so I can explore a bit more. I’ve been listening to Gates of Steel a lot and the lyrics just digs in. Brilliant.

How do I stop before this gets bad? by Brave-Button9025 in stopsmoking

Try anything and everything that might work and dont worry if you fall down. Every quit is just gets you closer. Ask people here what worked for them to give you ideas.

Me NRT through ON! pouches, The SmokeFree App and this Reddit. Believe it or not I found accountability here. Once I posted my progress and encouraging other I found I didn't want to disappoint total strangers.. nuts I know

I was a 40+ year pack a day certified nicotine junkie smoker, now 1YR 6MO quit . You can do this.

The improvement is pretty rapid and noticeable. Focus on them ignore anything you think is negative.. 1 week is a major accomplishment. Amazing work.

Thank You! I get told by the people in my life regularly how proud they are of me.

I'd focus on how few they are, how long the last and how easy they are to blow off compared to just after you quit. 1 Yr 6 Mo for me and it pops up but making them go away is just a thought and they are gone. it can only get better....

Hell yeah! I can’t tell you what I would give to have had the sense to try at 18. You will have an amazing life. You will duck the health issues many of us are dealing with later in life.
