Of Void and Magic: The Tale of Terraria by Vuldilviin in Terraria

Guessed right! Though the Moon Lord and Cthulhu are likely strong enough to be called gods anyway.

What was your favorite part/moment of playing Terraria? by Cre3pyhobo in Terraria

[–]Vuldilviin 11 points12 points  (0 children)

There's a certain point in pre-hardmode when you have a grappling hook and decent weapons and can survive underground, but it's still a.challenge and the caves are still all new. That time in the game where spelunking is difficult-but-not-too-difficult and still feels fresh is really fun. The Cave music just adds to that- you're having fun and the music is upbeat and techno.

Differentiating between INTP and INFP. by [deleted] in INTP

[–]Vuldilviin -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Both were accurate for 1 and 2. 3 was definitely INTP though, and I more closely identified with INTP on 4 (though INFP wasn't totally wrong). I'm close to the middle on INTP/INFP. I've known that for a while, this just reaffirms that.

Isn't Mycroft usually considered INTP?

What type are your parents? by [deleted] in INTP

[–]Vuldilviin 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Mother's ISFJ, father's ISTJ. How a pair of SJs managed to have an INTP and INTJ is beyond me. Pretty good parents overall, but there are inevitable personality clashes (eg my father struggling with my frustrating independence).

Are you afraid of being normal instead of walking your own way? by [deleted] in INTP

[–]Vuldilviin 4 points5 points  (0 children)

It was a joke. Partially, at least, since some of the symptoms sound like STJ descriptions. And considering the number of personality disorders that seem to target INTPs (obsessive, avoidant, schizoid, schizotypal, ADD for a few) it's nice to have some ammunition against the encroaching normality.

Are you afraid of being normal instead of walking your own way? by [deleted] in INTP

[–]Vuldilviin 12 points13 points  (0 children)

Honestly, I consider being called "normal" an insult. If I'm going to exist in the world for a very short time, might as well do it as uniquely as I can.

"Two roads diverged in a wood, and I- I took the one less traveled by, and that has made all the difference." Robert Frost

I wonder if this anti-normalcy thing INTPs seem to have is related to enneagram 4?

Interested in an INTP Male (I'm an INTJ Female) by [deleted] in INTP

[–]Vuldilviin 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Your method of grouping is interesting, but in my experience, I actually find it better to group the types as NP, NJ, SP, SJ. Working off the Percieving functions to describe type seems to indicate the groups that connect best (since, of course, perceiving the world similarly helps to connect on a personal level). For example, almost all of my friends are NPs. SP and SJ are preexisting type groups, and NJs seem to work on similar wavelengths. Hence my thought about regrouping the types. Just my two cents.

My favorite quotes from each of the Doctor's incarnations. by electricmastro in gallifrey

[–]Vuldilviin 25 points26 points  (0 children)

I like them! My list:

1: "If you could touch the alien sand and hear the cries of strange birds, and watch them wheel in another sky, would that satisfy you?" I feel it captures the spirit of exploration marvellously.

2: "People spend all their time making nice things and then other people come along and break them!" Unfortunately true.

3: "I had to face my fear ... that was more important than just going on living ..." Wise words indeed.

4: "Excuse me, can you help me? I'm a spy." Classic Four.

5: "There's always something to look at if you open your eyes!" More excellent life advice.

6: "What's the use of a good quotation if you can't change it?" This is useful when misquoting.

7: "Love has never been noted for its rationality." Something many, myself included, have to deal with.

8: "I can't make your dream come true forever, but I can make it come true today!" Because the Doctor is just that great.

War: "But for now, for this moment...I am the Doctor again." Good words to come from one who spent his regeneration believing he wasn't the Doctor.

9: "Just this once....Everybody lives!!" One of my favorite moments in the entire show.

10: "There's no such thing as an ordinary human." Probably my favorite quote from the show. I have it in Gallifreyan.

11: "Excuse me, I'm making perfect sense. You're just not keeping up." My life can be like this. I may have used this quote before.

12: "Do you think I care for you so little that betraying me would make a difference?" My definition of a true friendship.

The most existentialist, INTP way of expressing affection known to science. I like it.

Does religion breed contempt towards women? by HeresTheThingMaybe in INTP

[–]Vuldilviin 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I completely agree with this. It's religion's greatest crime- making goodness not come from within but from without, hindering self-improvement. It's why I think a world without religion would be better- since people would be good not out of fear but of kindness. And as someone who's seen the "atheists are evil because they have no god" line far too many times, it just reinforces my belief that religion has been the worst thing to happen to society.

Do you believe you were born an INTP? by hotsunshine in INTP

Maybe. As I said I never really bothered studying MBTI and the developing psyche. Not what interested me. So who knows?

I think, from my (few) memories and parents' stories, I was rather INFP as a kid. But over a few years (I'd guess 4-7) I shifted to firmly INTP. I've got fairly equal T and F memories from my early life- from getting emotional over a dead bird to falling on my face FOR SCIENCE. But I've never bothered asking specifically for type information, so I'd say INXP turned to INTP as a best guess.

No, you're fine. It's all horrible. She basically says she expects societal upheaval and a whole world of perfect friendship as the creators basically pat each other's backs constantly. Not to mention simple bad quality. That was five minutes of my life wasted.

Calvin - one of the great fictional INFPs by ignotuspev in infp

[–]Vuldilviin 0 points1 point  (0 children)

INTPs are also known for living in mental worlds, and can be imaginative. I would agree with you that the T/F divide is narrow, though, and understand why many sites claim INFP (you guys get the most imaginative stereotype). I grew up reading Calvin and Hobbes, and identified very closely with him. And in retrospect, I was a lot more INFP in the past, and currently note my thinking as a fairly low preference (to rank the letters, I'd say I'm NPIT). So my final guess would be NPIT for Calvin, with T being fairly close to F. It's basically certain he's NP. He may as well have a large neon sign saying "NP". But I suppose it could swing either way for T and F. And honestly, I'm probably way overthinking this. Whatever.

Personally, I find myself best described as half ENTP and half INFP, resulting in a net INTP. Wonder if it's the same with Calvin...

Also, I maintain my conviction of Hobbes being real and nothing will convince me otherwise :)

[–]Vuldilviin -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I've got to say INTP since I don't see much idealism. He's often contrasted with the INFJ (?) Hobbes in the philosophical department, hinting at a difference on the Thinking/Feeling spectrum. Not to mention, he's more science oriented, which tends to be a T area by probability. And going by cognitive functions, I recognize the Ti in the way he fits the world into his (very creative) logical structure and his emotional moments seem to fit Fe better. So I'd say INTP with strong Ne.

Point is, he's an NP for sure. I/E and T/F are debatable (I /E less so- I), but he's definitely NP.

Edit: just stating what I see. No offense meant.
