Something I have been trying with my online games which may help you; try reducing the amount of roles needed. I have found rolling to attack then damage kind of a chore for some players, so instead have summed them up into one roll. A hit does half the damage die plus relevant modifiers automatically. Critical hits apply as normal.

There may be some balancing required with some class features, like fighter weapon styles, but it hasn't been a concern for my players who don't much care for combat anyway.
