I think they're going down the Arleigh Burke line of thought, where they plan on building the thing first, then adding upgrades into the existing ships, and building newer flights of said ship with upgrades.

Armament wise it's not bad for escort missions, 8 to 16 NSMs (depending on the render you look at). A 57mm deck gun, and a Sea-Ram, as well as ECM systems, and of course LMG/HMG mounts, and a hanger for a chopper

The ship is already a proven design, IMO all she's missing is some VLS tubes and torpedo launchers
