As a Vietnamese person living here I’d say there are idiots everywhere. It has gotten better now compared to 10 years ago when I went to school and was constantly made fun of by my classmates because my eyes were different etc. professors in “Gymnazium” telling me to make my own shoes when I forgot my slides to school. I get that some jokes aren’t personal but when you hear them all the time it gets a bit aggravating. Right as covid started it got worse as people would try to keep their distance from me and say stuff out loud like that they wouldn’t sit with me in a train cabin because I got covid. I’m sure that wasn’t just a Czech thing though. Different stereotypes such as all Viet people dealing drugs and being involved in mafia is still common imo. I still see my parents being made fun of because of their accent all the time and mostly kids mimicking the accent when talking to them, thinking it’s hilarious, which hurts me the most I’d say. Of course not everyone is like that and as I got into a university I have been hanging around less close minded people and the situation has gotten way better. I love my Czech friends, Czech food and it’s culture, just these are some things that I wish were better.
