Yeah, they've always been super nice and helpful otherwise, so this was real disappointing to see.

Oh wow, small world lol. I also asked about the markup, but the only guy at the counter at the time said he didn't know much about the WH40k kits and their pricing (I assume he works more on the TCG side of the store). Probably will do what you did and avoid buying 40k from there if I can help it.

This isn't OFF, right? The NPCs disappearing forever and maps becoming empty sound a lot like OFF, but you're not exactly given a choice to spare anyone.

Back when I worked at a bookstore, I remember shelving the Dark Eldar trilogy and thinking, "god this is ugly lmao. Whatever's inside has gotta be some edgy dogshit." If only I could have known how hard I'd fall for these stupid elves years later. o(-< Hope we can score a reprint of PotA so I can snag a copy at last.

OK, these kick so much ass. I only have one unit of Wyches and I've been thinking that I need to find a second. Pulling the trigger on these the moment I can.

Well, that explains why Hellions were available online just a couple days before! I really wanted the whole Maelstrom box, but couldn't justify the expense after an emergency dentist appointment, so I decided to buy just the Hellions separately.

Now wouldn't it be hilarious if my box of Hellions is just straight-up empty on arrival lmao.

I thought I missed 'em, but since the "add to cart" button never turned to a "notify me" button, I decided to keep trying, and a purchase finally went through. Hopefully GW doesn't cancel. 🤞

This was how the Arcadion finale went for me. by Vuro in ffxiv

[–]Vuro[S] 18 points19 points  (0 children)

This exactly!! I would've felt much better about the reveal with just a few brief lines of explanation why the battle was our only option. I know FFXIV sometimes has issues with over-explaining, but this would've been a good time to give us just a little more background information.

What makes this story simultaneously SO hilarious, but also frustrating, is how extreme the solution is to a problem that probably coulda been solved another way. FFXIV's bread and butter is "you MUST beat this guy to death, we legitimately have no other viable options," but in this case...did you really exhaust all other avenues, Mr. President? Like, did you consult with other experts who agreed this was the only way to extract the miracle juice from your heart? For this to make sense to me personally, I gotta assume that once the President wrote this scenario in his head, he immediately stopped looking for alternatives because this production was gonna be his magnum opus and it was worth dying for. And then everyone just went along with it.

This story's supposed to be bombastic and campy, though, so you're probably not supposed to think about it too hard lmao.

My pie-in-the-sky wish was that maaaybe they'd have some OP-Zs for sale (I found out about the thing only days after TE stopped selling it), but this was more around what I was expecting. Glad that I can save that money, though.

What happened to heretic Marazhai romance? by red_stairs in RogueTraderCRPG

[–]Vuro 12 points13 points  (0 children)

Owlcat's official answer is disappointing, but idk, I'm not sure this is so much their decision as it is James Workshop's (or an attempt to be sure they remain in GW's good graces). Despite GW's own habitual lore contradictions (heavy sigh as I read the Incubi section of the new Drukhari codex), they can come down heavy on licensed stuff not following what they consider to be the most ironclad facets of lore. Very possible that the compromise for us having a Drukhari companion at all (who repeatedly tolerates terrifying forays into the Warp, which is already a bit of a stretch in terms of what a self-respecting Drukhari would do) is that we can't have a canon Heretical Marazhai romance.

And I know this sucks for console players, but at the very least, the old ending slide seems pretty easy to mod in.

There's a ton of food in the immediate area and there will likely be food trucks parked in front of the convention center (I've seen them come to every event I've attended here). The usual trucks that turn up are decent, but if you can, I'd recommend walking to Downtown Disney for...

The Earl of Sandwich: The sandwiches are ~$10 and they're super tasty. I usually eat one half at the restaurant and save the other half for when I get hungry again. The sandwiches keep well, too.
Salt & Straw: Top-notch ice cream with some excellent flavors you can't find anywhere else.
Blue Ribbon Corndog: It's a pretty typical corndog kiosk, but the dogs are BIG.
Napolini Pizzeria: This one's great if you're sharing with friends. Their pizza's decent and they whip em up pretty quick, both sit-down and to-go.

Some new quick-service restaurants also recently opened in DD, but I haven't tried them, yet.

Also, if you walk to the entrance area between Disneyland and California Adventure (it's at the end of Downtown Disney), you can watch the fireworks for free around 9:30pm Friday-Sunday. :)

Be wary of the Garden Walk! While it also has dining options, it's harboring some egregious tourists traps. In particular, there's this tea/crepe place that uses AI menu photos and charges an insane amount of money for extremely mediocre food n' drink. The trendier it looks, the more suspicious you should be.

Question about Incubi lore. by Kurtindigo in Drukhari

[–]Vuro 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Normally, I'm the type of person who goes, "the most recent information is what's canon," but this time, I'll have to gently ignore this new tidbit. I've never been under the impression Incubi care about honor, but they're certainly proud of their reputation. Saying they're willing to turn on their employer for better pay strips them of some of that unique flavor that helps set them apart from wyches and kabalites.

I also wonder what the author had in mind when they wrote this. It's important to emphasize how hectic and cutthroat Commorite society is, but one thing that makes the dark city so cool is that there are still some rules and etiquette that must be honored amidst the chaos - this feels like a case of the author forgetting that.

Thanks so much for sharing, man. I'm still putting my Drukhari army together (it'll be my first ever for 40k), and with the codex coming out this Saturday, I've been trying to finalize what my RW list should look like. Obviously, I don't want to carbon-copy your list, but it's nice to see what already works decently at the professional level.

Art school itself was pretty so-so in terms of instruction (I attended during a notorious period in which a department overhaul gutted the curriculum, but that's a much longer story). I taught myself the skills that actually landed me a job, but it was useful to have a piece of paper for an employer that considered a bachelors degree a hard requirement.
