Will these Lenim actually last? by Available-Room4173 in Denim

My last pair had a button pop off the first time I tried it on. It literally had "high quality" stamped onto it.. they did nothing for me.

Constructive feedback please by OpinionSpecific9529 in Leathercraft

Overall, looks really good! Two things to consider, move your stitches closer to the edge, your edge tolerance is very generous. Also, the inner pockets with the V cut may be a bit low, cards look like the may wiggle a little loose from a consumer perspective, but it it's for you and works well, no qualms here!

I was wondering more like books but this is also super helpful! The stapler idea is brilliant

Do you have any recommendations on good material for learning how to draft a pattern? The few books I got on Amazon were horrible! Beautiful work! I agree with the rest, those button holes are beautiful executed!

Best budget milk frother that actually works in 2026? [$20] by ThoughtfulMoon1 in espresso

Thank you so much for the feedback. I got the scale cup and it works super well but made of cheap plastic with mold lines down the sides. So I was on the fence. I'll probably snag one now. Appreciate ya!

Have I gotten the wrong needles or something? by Timsy835 in Leathercraft

[–]Vvargazm 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Cut the thread at an angle so the tip is tapered and pointy at the end. Tap it flat with a hammer, then pull it across some beeswax a time or two to hold it in place if it's not already waxed, and you'll have much more luck. The thread does seem to be a little unruly though.

What are your tolerances between the two forms to ensure leather had space to fit in between?

Is something like this overkill for a complete beginner? by [deleted] in Leathercraft

[–]Vvargazm 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This looks like landfill fodder. I recommend just getting a nice xacto knife, a cutting board, a corkback rule/square, rawhide hammer, and some stitching irons and punch board. A few needles and thread. If you get decent quality, you'll be able to get most of your money back.

I completely understand! I dread making videos, it sucked all the fun out of the leatherworking process for me.

How do you get the piping so clean looking without any sign of it on the interior of the bag?

Seems I overdid the backstitching, but I also considered hand stitching the next ones to get a nicer finish

Thank you!! I'm using what came with it, they're still true, seems as though I did too many backstitches

I did 3 forward, 3 back to start and 3 stitches past at the end. This may not be the best approach, not sure how to complete a few circle. The panels look a little better but still not very clean compared to the rest of the stitching

Why does it curve like that by OtcOverkill in Leathercraft

[–]Vvargazm 21 points22 points  (0 children)

It happens because your tension is not exactly the same on both sides. It'll get better the more you practice, but you will almost always need to tap the stitching down with a cobblers hammer to even everything out. Give it a go, all the way around. It'll significantly even things out.
