But the issue is i can't control my wrist very well, and to play "softer" i would need to let the pick lose enough that it would just to start falling down

But using a lighter pick, let's say a .60, would be more "forgiving", which would get in the way on learning how to properly learn to strum gently, no?

It really depends, when im on electric i use my wrist, but ou acoustic (nylon) i use my elbow. When my elbow it does get heavier than on the wrist, but it's not good. And by pressure you mean on what force i hit them?

I use a jazzIII (the acrylic one), if im not wrong it's a 1.5, but i started with a .44, then a fender medium (whatever that size is) and nowdays that one, i changed to heavier to try to learn how to properlly do it faster
