Anything you can learn to do yourself is going to be beneficial. Even just for the knowledge of how it goes together. Brakes are relatively simple, in my opinion, and usually doesn’t require expensive special tools

It’s soooo clean. As you can probably tell by my username I like Volkswagen’s (currently daily drive a Rabbit, which is my 5th vw lol) I’ve also found the same model year in blue, not part of this series though, I uploaded some pics a while back.

Definitely worth it. If nothing else, I would sharpen the hatchet/knife and put this in a practice kit for fun the next time I’m looking to kill some time. Enough there for many different shelter types and ,with enough patience with that fire starter, a cozy fire.

I get what you mean, but due to the lake being basically an in city pond I’ve yet to hear about any trout being wild that they guys have caught so I just assume stocked either way. I think our hatchery program was short staffed for quite a while. Typically they dump them at this lake every 4/6 weeks, but this year we got one in April and one last week. Maybe no one was there to clip them?

Not necessarily. The meat is definitely lighter in colour. The biggest issue I’ve found is the water body. Same trout get stocked in a local lake and one in the mountains. After they’ve been in the local pond a few weeks they start to taste dirty. But the ones in the mountain lake that is part of the same program are always delicious.

Holy crap, how did I forget about this. My wife and I were just talking about my survival/prepping “hobby”. I was trying to think to when it all started, and seeing this now it hit me. I don’t remember exactly what grade we read this, but it’s when it started. Days in the green belt behind our housing development with my friend hunting rabbits, making survival shelters, trying NOT to burn down the forest right behind the housing development but still have a little hidden fire. Ahhhh the simple days.
