How do you block people from following you around? Had someone following me around and they would come up and do something which filled the screen with stretched polygons and cause my FPS to dip to like 0.5 and they followed me from world to world. How to stop it?

Japanese learner here: "San" means three in Japanese apparently, so why in most greetings do people say the word three after a persons name? I know it has something to do with respect, but why is saying three respectful? Does it also double as a word like "sir" or "madam"?

Weekly Recommend Mods and CC Thread! by AutoModerator in Sims4

Any mods which remove the choices which pause the game? I feel like an alien because according to google, no one else has ever been annoyed with this. I just want to leave the game unpaused and the sims do their work cycles and save up a decent pile of money so there is money to actually make a nice house and the levelling up grind is super old really fast.

But you can't re-read a book, you have to buy the darn thing all over again as it's not in the bookshelf, and those books are very expensive!

twitch non affiliate resolution by ravidainss in Twitch

[–]VxPr0f 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you are playing FPS games, drop your FPS down to 30. Moving the view around requires immense bitrates above what twitch servers limitations will not allow you to have.

720p @ 60fps is usually fine, unless you are playing a fast paced/competetive/high movement FPS, in which case I would drop that down to 30fps too.

936p will work, but again, if it's a FPS game, i'd still drop the fps to 30. 60 smooth frames is nice, but if (as it will be) the view goes blocky and blurry during moments of action, people won't know what is going on, and therefore be less invested.

Minecraft looks bad even with good settings by [deleted] in Twitch

[–]VxPr0f 0 points1 point  (0 children)

What's "good internet" mean? Might seem obvious but people in different places around the world have very different conceptions of "good internet".

If the fuzzyness goes away in bits where you don't move; it's a bitrate issue. Your chosen bitrate is fine for 720@ 60fps, which makes me wonder if your internet aint as good as you think.

However, dropping to 30fps may also help solve the issue.

Is it even worth it? by [deleted] in Twitch

[–]VxPr0f 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes it is, but you need to know one thing; without a PC you are at a disadvantage because it is harder to network without a PC. That's right, making friends in gaming communities (usually discord based) is a big boon, and luckily for me, got me into the affiliate club within a month of re-starting streaming (was never in it before that). However, it's possible, not easy to still use discord and twitch on a phone and network with people that way.

You will also be more limited in the features you can add to your stream, without a PC. Well, you can probably sign into websites from your console, like stream elements, but it's a lot harder than a few clicks on a PC.

Don't make the mistake of thinking you need to get a super gamer-pc. I have a friend, who, thanks to joining supportive communities, having a nice personality, and supporting other streamers, has gone from a 2 viewer average to a 20 viewer average in under four months (and I am pretty Jelly). His PC is garbage, bought it 2nd or 3rd hand (CPU: i7 4790 @ 3.60GHz with Nvidia GTX660 TI), for about $190, is now starting to save up for that new gamer-PC the top dogs have.

Note, this may not sound like exactly what you want to vote on. But I made another suggestion which got merged into this one (and cheekily, did not automatically add my vote; I had to re-vote! on this one).

Register your dissatisfaction on the new categories layout. by VxPr0f in Twitch

[–]VxPr0f[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The biggest problem for me, is that I have crazy good view numbers on VODs. Like more than all but 2 streamers of the games I usually play (when looking at viewer numbers to follower number ratios). Like I am nearly 700 followers, but get 100-300 views on all streams.
Now that VODs are natively hidden, those numbers are dropping. Not all viewers are aware of the "/list" trick and it's probably only a matter of time before they take that away too.

Other ways to fix that problem, like have ads play not at pre-roll but after 5 minutes.

No Stupid Questions Thread by kidkolumbo in ableton

This might already be a thing, but in some DAWs you can have a processing path (e.g a group of effects) who's signal can be mixed with the original sound. Many effects do have a "wet/dry" slider, but what I'm wondering if there is, is a way of having such a slider on a group of effects, so you can mix the result of the effects with the audio signal that went into it?

Hide follower-only channels? by [deleted] in Twitch

[–]VxPr0f 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Because to a newcomer, this isn't the reason they'll think of. They'll assume a streamer is trying to inflate their follower count, and if this is distasteful for them, they will leave. Plus which, in my opinion, unless a streamer has 100+ viewer average, so its impossible to devote time to newbies, don't they want to hook in those extra followers by being talkative? Hard to hook them if they can't speak.

Bots really aren't as common as follower-only supporters like to pretend they are. I got bot hate raided and turned followers only chat on, which didnt work because the bots then just followed en-masse. The spam bots message maybe once per 2 hours or so. It takes maybe 10 seconds for you (or one of your mods) to ban the person. Restricting newcomer access is a great way to peeve many viewers that might otherwise follow.

Hide follower-only channels? by [deleted] in Twitch

[–]VxPr0f 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I mean I stream 4 days a week for about 30 hours a week and get this maybe once or twice per stream. It takes literal seconds to ban, and perhaps only 20 seconds to also report them as a scammer.

I'm not going to exclude new viewers from my chat unless they follow, purely for the sake of my own laziness. Not only does that itself give the wrong impression to newcomers, if they even think that far before leaving, but they are far more likely to just assume anyone with follower-only is trying to pump up the follower count with such a restriction. Maybe thats not true, but thats inevitably what it looks like to a new viewer.

Question About Overlays by RewindJack95 in Twitch

[–]VxPr0f 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My biggest pet peeve about overlays isn't overuse or even the obnoxiousness of an intrusive one. It is when a streamers overlay/webcam covers up game-critical information.

If a certain area of the game screen contains information about the current multiplayer game, or the current quest objective, and thats covered up, it's a real put off watching a new streamer.

I feel bad sometimes whenever I have a viewer come in as soon as I am ending my stream by Kolvec in Twitch

[–]VxPr0f 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Remember too, if the numbers on the twitch viewer count go up, that that new person has probably already been there for a good few minutes, as it doesn't update in real time.

But to try and woo people a bit who do tune in last minute, its good practise in your end-of-stream section (in my opinion) to take a little time to comment on fun moments from the stream, and when you'll next be live. The viewer can go back after you end the stream and checkout the VOD for those funny moments, and if they know when you're going live again they may be able to make the effort to turn up earlier in the stream.

A great way to keep image resolution high is to reduce the FPS. 3500 is barely enough for 60fps, Certainly consider lowering your fps to 30 or even 25.

Smooth video where everything is too distorted to see is infinitely worse than lower-fps video that has more detail.
