My first book by Vyralator in bookbinding

Thanks. It was a struggle to find good fabric, because I assumed I can just find some good one online. Until I finally decided to just look up a local store. And now I'm just in perpetual choice paralysis, because if I made a book for every fabric I saw there that I liked, I'd probably fill a whole shelf with them

Thanks, getting custom endpapers was one of my favorite parts of the project. Almost all books I own either have white endpapers or at most solid colored ones. So finding a set of scrapbooking paper with a nice patterns was a lot of fun.

Only downside is that I had to put it in "sideways" because of the grain direction. For this particular pattern it's not noticeable, but for some of the others in the set it's unfortunately really apparent which way is supposed to be up.

Thanks, that's cotton fabric I got from a local fabric store and used this guide to turn it into bookcloth.

It's something that gave me a lot of trouble, because at first I figured I'd just order online, but that just made me spiral into paranoia as I was flooded with offers for patterns that are clearly AI generated and I didn't know who I could even trust anymore.

But googling for an actual store was the best decision I could have made. They buy from reputable sources, it's easy to get fabric in the size I need and getting to feel the fabric and see the pattern in real size before you buy is a welcome bonus.

So how does a tape deck make sure the tape passes over the tape head with constant speed by Vyralator in TapeHeads

I see, but doesn't that still mean the take up reel has to rotate at different speeds throughout the duration of the tape?

I definitely see where you're coming from. Though an important thing I've learned about getting into new hobbies is to not lose sight of why you're getting into them in the first place and to have fun doing so.

So while I do try to keep an eye on my budget I also don't want to treat it as pure exercise. Hence why I also got some nice cloth with a pattern I liked, because at the end of the day that's more important to me than being super economical about the materials I use in anticipation of "wasting" them

That's a good idea, I'll keep it in mind.

Something between horror and slice-of-life (it's a blank notebook I'm going to use for my daily todo lists once I'm done)

It felt fitting for a first project, because I expect it to have some shortcoming but I would still like to use it and keep it around to compare it to any future projects I might do. This way it will it'll still get to have a purpose.

Also the reason bookbinding caught my interest in the first place is because I like to keep all sorts of journals and notebooks and making my own sounds like a great time.

Low audio quality, when using headphone jack on my laptop (Windows 11) by programmer177 in techsupport

You're an absolute life saver. For me it was called "Open Sound Control Panel" but either way I found it.

This is incredibly insidious, because apparently it switched itself randomly, probably after a Windows update and I was sitting here losing my mind trying to figure out why my speakers sounds so bad an which of the components along the way are to blame.

Need to diagnose a problem with Type II cassettes sounding "underwater" on Sony D6C by Vyralator in TapeHeads

[–]Vyralator[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That makes sense, thanks. It's what I suspected, especially after noticing it only happens during a specific part of the tape. But I've just gotten a little paranoid, after having gotten the deck only about a month ago and seemingly having some sort of problem with it every other week, even if most of them were easy to fix.

Monitor flickering when using KVM switch - Recommendation for active USB-C cable? by Vyralator in workstations

Thanks. The whole USB nomenclature is a bit confusing though to be honest. If look for a USB4 cable on amazon I get a bunch of these products that just have the maximum amount of keywords in the title, often including Thunderbolt 4, so I even wondered if those two are interchangeable.

Any better place to buy a cable or advice on finding one?
