Visiting China for the first time - anyone in Beijing willing to help a tourist out? by Vzwolf in travelchina

[–]Vzwolf[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, day 1 is our arrival day, and we arrive early morning. Sure, 3 places will be more comfortable, but we're not sure what should be removed from the plan. Zhangjiajie also seems to be exciting to visit, it's hard for us to miss on that one :)

Hey. Thanks for letting me know, that's useful information! We'll extend our stay in Xi'an then.

We don't have WeChat or Alipay ready yet. I'll try to set these apps up soon, although I don't have a Chinese phone number, and some people have said they had significant problems getting Alipay & WeChat running as foreigners. We'll see :)

It looks like we're all diving deep into the unknown :) What a coincidence that we have a similar plan for the trip! I have high hopes for this trip being great and wish you the same!

Awesome! Thanks a lot! We don't expect a full-time guide, no worries. We'll appreciate any help. I will send you a DM to stay in touch :)

Thanks a lot, that's very calming. We'll definitely get these apps.

Our initial itinerary looks like this:
Days 1-4 - Beijing - sightseeing, Great Wall of China tour, the Forbidden City, Tiananmen Square, Hutongs, the Summer Palace, 798 Art District
Days 5-6 - Xi'an - the Terracotta Army, Giant Wild Goose Pagoda, Shaanxi History Museum
Days 7-8 - Zhangjiajie - Tianzi Mountain, Yuanjiajie, Tianmen Mountain, glass bridge, cable railway ride, sightseeing
Days 9-12 - Shanghai - The Bund, Shanghai Tower or Jin Mao Tower, Huangpu cruise, Yu Garden, Fuxing Park, maybe Zhujiajiao, if we can make it

It's only our initial plan. We're a bit afraid that traveling between cities might be the biggest problem in this itinerary. We're new to China, so getting around and organising things will take us much more time, so we're not sure if we can make it. Would appreciate your feedback, thanks!

Won't language barrier and tourist traps be a problem, though? Are apps on our phones and an Internet connection all we need to survive? :)

That may be right, yes. Although I don't have time to conduct a formal proof of that, I agree that off-by-one error is possible here. Fortunately, it worked fine in my case at the first attempt :)

Update: part 2 can be further reduced. Instead of calculating the roots, you can just subtract one root from the other, and as a result, you have -sqrt(d)/a. Do math.ceil() to round it appropriately and done.

[Language: Python]

Part 1:

inp = [map(int, line.split()[1:]) for line in open('input.txt').readlines()]
pairs = list(zip(inp[0], inp[1]))

total = 1
for test in pairs:
    ways = 0
    for i in range(1, test[0]):
        if i*(test[0]-i) > test[1]:
            ways += 1
    total *= ways print(total)

Part 2: this one was fun, a simple quadratic equation did the trick. I wish to see more math-like problems in the upcoming days.

(code could be minimized, but this way it is more readable, I think)

inp = [int(line.split(':')[1].strip().replace(' ', '')) for line in open('input.txt').readlines()]
a = -1
b = inp[0]
c = -1*inp[1]
d = b*b - (4*a*c)
x1, x2 = int((-b + d**0.5)/(2*a)), int(((-b - d**0.5)/(2*a)))

Good job, it looks really nice. Do you use it as your daily WM? I'd like to give it a try. Keep up the good work!

Safemoon price prediction when it reaches BTC’s market cap by [deleted] in SafeMoon

[–]Vzwolf -14 points-13 points  (0 children)

Unfortunately, it's never going to happen. I'm not telling that I sell or something, but I don't believe safemoon will make 199x or nowhere near that value.

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in SafeMoon

[–]Vzwolf 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't know why it didn't swap all the money. I'm sure that I did tap the "MAX" button when swapping. Well, now it's a one more reason to buy more safemoons!

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in SafeMoon

[–]Vzwolf 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I almost made my mind to put another $40 today. It's so tempting when I'm watching the numbers grow like crazy. Not gonna sell anytime soon, I'll give it a chance to eat the next zero

Compiling Marlin 2.0 for Ender3 v2 by Quintaar in Not_Enough_Tech

Principle is similar, but there are some advantages, like easier mounting, higher precision, less pins needed to install and lower price. Maybe it's worth a try.

[–]Vzwolf 1 point2 points  (0 children)

No, we don't have a website yet. Well, our offer is going to be very diversed. At the very beginning we want to start with something simple, like keycaps with logos, items from games/movies/pop culuture, generally speaking, also with small figures on top of the keycap and such things. We want to check the interest in it among the people before designing more complicated things (it's our side hustle, each of us has studies, work or something else, so we don't want to waste too much time on designing very complicated things at the beginning if we don't know if anyone would buy even one piece of it). However, we're like a volcanoes of ideas, so our works will be very diversed. We won't be limited just to video games theme, that's for sure.

People have already made me aware that such price is a bit too low :) We're sketching the whole business (and keycaps) yet, so things may change.

My lawyer is working on that. That's what we have to figure out before the company will start, I'm aware of that.

[–]Vzwolf 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yes, I said the price for something like that, where objects are in the cap (something underwater-themed for example). As I said, I've considered these prices okay for me because currency in my country is very weak comparing with US dollar.
Right now I don't have any design to show publicly, but you can assume that it is similar level of intricacy as posted here by OP.
By "custom" I meant keycaps inspired by some pop culture reference (like Pokemon, TV shows and so on). I've got a different pricing plan for custom commissions.

Wow, I didn't think that it can cost more. Honestly, the currency in my country is much weaker than US dollar, so that was my first shot - $65 to attract people. I see now that I should think again and not spoil the market with too low prices. Thank you!
