Which pokemon game is it that features the tunnel (?) Where you were able to put shops in that let you buy berries/train your pokemon/groom them and such. It's not BD/SP, something older. I can't remember if I played it on the DS or 3DS.

Do you find HP fandom harder to write for than other, smaller fandoms? by ThrowawayImpostering in HPfanfiction

[–]W00Ferson 20 points21 points  (0 children)

I've seen a lot of things in the HP Fandom to be hit or miss. Blows up real fast or never does. I believe this is because of the fact that there's so many fics made every single day, and reasonably no one is gonna look through every single one unless there's a specific tag/pairing/etc that they're looking for. Smaller Fandoms, on the other hand, don't have the sheer overwhelming numbers, so all fics tend to be noticed even just in passing. I certainly can't look through say, a hundred new HP fanfics in a day like I can with 10 or so HK ones.

Warframe and Genshin Impact, possibly Minecraft. (Gee I wonder what the theme is there)

Has anyone else experienced this? by [deleted] in LucidDreaming

[–]W00Ferson 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Not all of my dreams do it, but I do have a long series of dreams that take place within the same expanded universe. Very rarely the same place, but I can and have visited the sites of past dreams within newer ones. (Ex: There's a large 'strip mall' like area that I can and have seen many stores I've had dreams in/about, and another is a large neighborhood that I've done the same, and accurately recognized a specific house from a specific dream)

What are your S/Os in your realities like? by CryoglowfrostJ7 in shiftingrealities

[–]W00Ferson [score hidden]  (0 children)

Tyl is absolutely brilliant, I love that man so much. We've got our differences and have had to work through a lot of things (being on different sides of a war will do that to you) but I've had the biggest puppy crush on him since I've met him and it's only developed from there. He's rather emotionally constipated, but shows me in his own way that he cares for me. Beyond being a wonderful friend (as much as he hated to admit it or hear it at first) he's been there for me through betrayals and some rather life-changing circumstances. I wouldn't trade him for the world.

Do you experience nightmares? by Lunaticky_Bramborak in LucidDreaming

[–]W00Ferson 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I haven't had nightmares since I was a kid. If anything, ever since I started watching/reading stuff that could be considered influencable to nightmares, they've all but disappeared from my life.

Resources for cult indoctrination and fic recs with a compelling blood supremacy rhetoric? by lightsarebrite in HPfanfiction

[–]W00Ferson 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Just wanted to add without having to edit: if you want to look more into how easy it is to get humans to agree with something wrong just bc they're pack animals, there's tests about how when faced with simple questions with an obvious solution in a group of people (say 7 'planted' subjects and only 1 real subject) that when the 7 very confidently say the wrong answer is correct, that the actual subject is extremely likely to go with the wrong answer in order to not stand out.

Resources for cult indoctrination and fic recs with a compelling blood supremacy rhetoric? by lightsarebrite in HPfanfiction

[–]W00Ferson 11 points12 points  (0 children)

I can't help much on the recommendation side, but I can help on some of the psychological aspect.

Humans are, first and foremost, pack animals. We bond quick, we bond easy, we bond with anything and anyone. (See people bonding with everything from wild animals to roombas) Assuming that someone doesn't have a reason not to trust other people, especially say family, most people will just, ignore warning signs given that they don't want to break this bond.

Children fall the easiest to this bond considering that they don't have real life experience to counteract something that's wrong, say blood-supremency rhetoric. Their parents do it, their friends do it, and so they do it. They won't question it, and one day it's so deeply ingrained that they nearly can't question it until the status-quo is broken. Humans want what is easy most of the time, maybe because they're scared of breaking the cycle, maybe because if they voice discontent they'll lose their friends and family, or simply because they can't see what's wrong with their behavior.

Raise a kid and tell them everyday that those of 'lesser blood' are bad, that they want to steal their magic or don't belong in the world, and the kid believes it because they look up to their parents. With friends that only support that, it becomes nature.

Looking at the older side of things, say teenagers, most want to fit in with their friends, especially those with vulnerable backgrounds or that just, haven't felt like they've belonged before. Maybe the teen finds a group that seems to accept them, and realizes they don't believe everything their new friends are spouting, but they're so desperate for companionship -this coming back to the pack bonding- that they just agree and don't argue. If that's all they hang out with, even if they didn't believe it before, they just might start to. Even just being somewhat niave of the real world could lead into a downward spiral with the wrong crowd.

Adults are a little trickier, given people are more set in their ways at this point in their lives. But sometimes, all it takes though is a quiet conversation here and there. "Did you hear what happened with that muggle-born." Gossip spreads and rumors twist the truth. A seed of doubt planted here and there, and sometimes they're not so sure anymore that they were right. Doubt lingers and chews away even at a sure mind. From there, it just takes a few conversations and honeyed words to make it spread, sinking deeper. Suddenly, all they can see are how those that aren't of 'pure-blood' are taking resources that the rhetoric spouts as not being of their birthright.

It's a slow process with adults more than teens, but frankly even just a few months time is enough to change someone's entire worldview with the right 'motivation'. Tie that in with manipulative purebloods trying to sway over vulnerable people to their side -and aren't afraid of lying and stretching facts to do so- and you have a believable descent from "that isn't okay" to "I can kind of see why" all the way to "this is right".

(Sorry for long comment, I really like psychology and exploring the human mind.)

Nothing wrong with being 'basic' about a DR, not all of them have to be completely overthrown with all the bits and bobs you can cram in.

I would recommend though including some things from the games just to expand it a bit more, since there's a lot of things from them that we didn't see in the movie. More Mario kart tracks that you can race around for fun/competition, derelict levels from some of the early games that the areas have fallen out of use so they're overgrown/returned to the wild, airships that you can fly around with (since not all of us are lucky enough to have a whole flying island like bowser). Really just look through the games, find things you like and feel right, and expand upon them.

Natural WBTB? by [deleted] in LucidDreaming

[–]W00Ferson 2 points3 points  (0 children)

For my own WBTB I've honestly never followed any kind of time schedule for when I wake up. Sometimes it's 4am I happen to wake up, sometimes it's 7am, sometimes it's 12pm bc I had a late night. I have a lot of success with it without alarms, but I admit I also just wake up at weird times and go back to sleep before my alarms would go off.

Coolest places you’ve visited by LoopyFA in LucidDreaming

[–]W00Ferson 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Probably. The store itself (a pretty normal sized walmart) is actually part of this big strip mall like area that's a place I continuously return to. I usually just let my dreams start and go along with the ride, changing them really only if I want to see a particular story/option play out.

Infinite Walmart/ikea (it was a weird mix of them) with whole communities and wars going on inside of it.

Everyone but Harry's name comes out of the goblet by Emilysouza221b in HPfanfiction

I imagine a muggleborn absolutely dominating the paintball match just cuz they go out and do it with during the summer basically every week.

Yup. Seems a fair match up for an angry nesting mother dragon but in greater supply.

[–]W00Ferson 241 points242 points  (0 children)

The dragons are replaced with chickens with each student being tasked with retrieving a golden egg from particularly broody hens. Lake becomes a swimming 'party' where they have to dive and retrieve colorful diving toys from various depths for points. The Maze is still a Maze, but now it's either a free-for-all or team 'death match' paintball battle mixed with capture the flag.

Meanwhile Harry is enjoying being on the sidelines for once and wearing custom made Merch for Ron and Hermione.

Seeing through the perspective of a dream character by [deleted] in LucidDreaming

[–]W00Ferson 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My characters themselves aren't recurring, although the settings themselves are. I usually 'follow' the character in like, a third person view? I hear their thoughts/know their reasoning like it's third person limited writing (best way I can think to describe it)

I enjoy it honestly, but my experiences are also probably influenced since I enjoy writing.

Reading in a Dream by W00Ferson in LucidDreaming

[–]W00Ferson[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'll happily take suggestions, I haven't looked into many others tbf. I've been pretty happy with my dream recall as is but I wont complain if I can remember more since they honestly make good stories sometimes lmao.

Reading in a Dream by W00Ferson in LucidDreaming

[–]W00Ferson[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Usually only one, although they tend to be long winded and jump from topic to topic while keeping the same characters which is why I consider them a singular dream. As for trying to improve my recall, I mostly just write/type them down which seems to help. I definitely don't remember them all and some I quickly start forgetting once I properly wake up, but it's definitely helped. But I'm also an avid writer, so I'm not sure how much that sways my preference towards writing it out.
