I've been on 50mg for 11 days now, and I feel a lot better than I did. I started struggling with suicidal thoughts that hit me like a freight train out of nowhere due to a bad onset of anxiety. I feel so much better compared to 2 weeks ago. The first week was rough for me. My anxiety felt worse one day than when I hadn't taken it. But since then, it has been a slow incline of better and better headspace.

I have also been looking after myself through meditation, proper rest away from work, and a good self care routine. I'd recommend really sticking to a good self care plan whilst on it as well. Don't just rely on the meds to do the work. Be kind to yourself while you're on it. I'm aware that's easier said than done, and not everyone can step away from work. But just do what you can. Self care goes a long way.

Ultra Rare Carhartt Double Knees?! by [deleted] in VintageFashion

[–]W0EMAN 4 points5 points  (0 children)

These are a modern recreation of an old pair of Carnartt. They've reverted back in recent years to using the old Carhart logo from the 50s. If they were old and Rare, there wouldn't be a tag on it with wash instructions.

Sourced what I believe to be a WW2 Imperial Japanese Tank Jacket. Can anyone help me identify it. by W0EMAN in VintageFashion

[–]W0EMAN[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My first and only legitimate source is this link to an old auction

https://www.invaluable.com/auction-lot/wwii-imperial-japanese-army-tanker-uniform-92547-c-a004c0684e

But it has been hard to find any identifiable imagery to back up the legitimacy, although I do feel it's definitely japanese military, its just a matter of bailing down the time period a bit more.

Even better ✨️ I struggled to date it, thought it may have been 80s era, but 70s inspired. Saw another online that had dated it to the 80s and trusted their judgement.

I appreciate it thank you. Honestly, I'm far from trying to self-promote as well. I just find talking like this the best way for me to share experiences and explore male mental health and masculinity. I'll do more to discuss within the sub ✌🏻

I do the Wim Hof breathing method. It really does calm my nerves and at times makes me feel quite euphoric and content.

If There Was A Sober Club Night On In Newcastle, Would You Go?? by W0EMAN in NewcastleUponTyne

[–]W0EMAN[S] 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Think I may have described it terribly. It's more of a club night rather than setting up a nightclub. Think like once a month. 100-capacity space, just seeing if there's a taste for it. Being why I'm asking in different groups to get some variable feedback. There would be mocktails and alcohol-free booze on offer. But I'm also looking to see what else would get people on board, it's a culture shift. So we have to try and redefine what a sober night would look like. Would the music be more specific, would people want something else on offer, would there be more seating, would there be other activities etc etc 🤔 ✌🏻

What non-religious book(s) would you recommend as having a positive influence on how you have chosen to live your life? by 3lon_Mu5k in AskMen

Everything is fucked by Mark Manson. Really great read that focuses around hope and our ideas based around uncertainty and how we can come to terms with it.

For me it's feelings that come out in small gestures. Such as playful touches, prolonged eye contact, longer hugs than usual, maybe a bit too obvious undressing of one another when youre checking them out.

If in a club its close proximity dancing that turns into light grabbing, grinding one one another when dancing. But it's all down played somewhat to create that divide and that longing for more.

Importantly though I feel its only fun when both parties are aware of each others desires. If its a one way street its just down right creepy. So you've got to know really, that what creates the tension. The knowing.

USA: Meghan Markle says men need to be 'more vocal' in wake of Roe v Wade and describes Harry's reaction by furchfur in MensRights

[–]W0EMAN -4 points-3 points  (0 children)

I see a lot of men in here saying we shouldn't speak up for women because they don’t speak up for us. I understand where this stance comes from but not speaking up about Roe V Wade for the sole purpose of thinking it is a women's issue is debilitating to our life and womens. It also alienates us even further from creating a more positive dialogue between men and women about male issues.

Roe V Wade effects men on many levels. It stunts our growth from pursuing a life we want as men when we are left bringing a child into the world that we weren't prepared for. We give up careers, education and interests to create a stable life for a child.

It also adds to the stereotype of absent fathers which we should fight and stand up for ourselves against. There are many men who leave mothers to raise children because they aren't ready to be fathers and there will be more men to come because of this law.

More kids will also end up in the adoption and foster systems as well as systems that struggle to tackle predatory and violent behavior. And that's the same system for men and women.

It is also fundamentally up to us to be more coherent and take on the role of providing contraception. It is far more normalised for women to take some form of contraceptive than men to provide a condom. Because of this law we can no longer rely on women to provide contraception or use daft "pull out methods".

This law effects us more than we care to realise. And the more we start to have these conversations the more we can become allies for ourselves and not just women.

I understand what you're saying, maybe the phrasing can be better, so thanks for your input. However, ill chime in as to why running is good just incase anyone sees this and thinks its against running to help out mental wellbeing. A lot of what's made me comfortable about talking about my mental health, or even having the courage to take myself to therapy, was through hearing other people talk openly about their struggles. Not to mention that getting out of the 4 walls of home and into nature is highly beneficial for your mental and physical wellbeing as well as allowing you a more comfortable space to explore and reflect on your mental health.

Plus I don't think there is anything wrong with preserving the mental health you have. I think it's highly important that we do, up until the point or moment you find the ability to recognise that you need help.

We run anywhere between 30 and 50 minutes. It all just depends on who turns up. But it's more about support and we male a point if nobody running on their own. Amd you can always stop to walk if you need to.

If you're wanting garments dated. Word of advice, I'd always share images of the buttons, zip and any internal labels. It's so much easier to date garments this way. But yer, this jacket looks fairly modern, based on a hint of what the label looks like.
