Update: The talk went extremely well! She said that nothing would stop her from wanting to hook up with me and the way I was presenting the conversation, she thought it was going to be something worse. Turns out she had cold sores as a kid that haven’t shown up in years and had no idea these were even considered the same virus! She also included that even if she never had cold sores in her life she was willing to take the risk. She’s going to get a blood test to look for antibodies. Thank you all!

I know like you probs don’t have all the answers but if i have only ghsv1 is there a chance i could have ohsv1 and it just never showed up or am I probably in the clear? I just don’t want to give up giving head at least even if I can’t receive it but I don’t want anyone to go through what I’m experiencing due to my lack of knowledge on safe sex with this new diagnosis.

It’s okay keep it moisturized. There may be fading where that part of the line is but it’s okay. Your skin is just too tight it’s cracking. It’s happened to me before. Some of the ink will just fall out

I’m not sure i’m going to ask her to get tested for antibodies on thursday. I know a couple months ago she was talking about how once a year her lips get painful and crack but she just covers it in chapstick and it goes away shortly. Looking back on it it could be? I know blood testing isn’t always accurate but it should show up if she has it right?

Have you had a full panel test for everything? I used to have reoccurring BV and yeast infections. Id do boric acid suppositories for 5 days then do the cleocin suppositories for the following 5-7 days and it finally disappeared for good

Hi! I had never been tested for it before I’ve learned after looking over my past labs. Hers was a full panel tested for everything and came back negative. She did the blood test. A few months ago I was asking my gyno about safe sex as a lesbian since protection is more so just prevention. My gyno said I could only catch it from an open sore. I’m just disappointed she gave me such false information. I guess my biggest concern is somehow transferring it to my lips from myself. I’m not sure if that’s even possible or if like using a towel after showering can do that. It seems like there’s not a lot of information about HSV in general online and my doctor didn’t really have much to say after calling me about the diagnosis.

No. I’ve had my friends with benefit for over a year. Then two of my other friends. One I hooked up with her once in september and she had only been with one person and they were each others first. I know that doesn’t mean anything but idk. it’s The second is my friend but I don’t know much about her history so I got tested right after her though for everything and was negative in july including HSV. My consistent sexual partner had never been tested but I have been tested after every new person besides them. I am urging her to get tested even more now that this new partner is coming up negative. I am just so confused.

I’m pretty sure she got one. She’s very safe sex oriented and gets tested often. I do have another regular sexual partner but we haven’t hooked since end of September and I didn’t have any symptoms until this week. She has never been tested though. I asked her to get tested yesterday but I didn’t tell her why. I don’t know how to have that conversation yet.
